We should look at developing countries and emerging economies," he added.

L'AQUILA, July 9 (Xinhua) -- U.S. President Barack Obama said on Thursday that he was looking forward to visiting China later this year.     Obama made the remarks when meeting with Chinese State Councilor Dai Bingguo, who was here to attend the leaders' meeting of the Group of Eight (G8) and five leading emerging economies (G5) on behalf of Chinese President Hu Jintao.     During the meeting, Obama said the U.S. side attached importance to the U.S.-China relations, and he hoped that the upcoming U.S.-China Strategic and Economic Dialogue could generate fruitful results, according to a press release issued by the Chinese delegation.     It is important for the United States and China to enhance cooperation on major international issues, Obama said, adding that it benefits both countries and both people.     The two also exchanged views on bilateral relations and other major international and regional issues, said the press release.     Dai conveyed Hu's greetings to Obama while Obama asked Dai to pass on his greetings and good wishes to Hu.     Hu cut short his stay in Italy and skipped the G8 meeting due to the situation in China's Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region. BEIJING, July 7 (Xinhua) -- Chinese banks have been active in transacting yuan cross-border settlement after the first deal was made Monday.     The Industrial and Commercial Bank of China (ICBC) said Tuesday it had dealt with yuan cross-border settlement totaling 17 million yuan (2.49 million U.S. dollars) in two days.     Many banks in Guangdong Province were active in dealing with yuan cross-border settlement. The Bank of China Guangdong branch transacted yuan cross-border settlement totaling 7.96 million yuan (1.17 million U.S. dollars) Tuesday.     "Guangdong Province has a large economic scale and is highly dependent on foreign trade. Yuan cross-border settlement could help enterprises avert exchange rate risks and reduce costs," said Cao Licong, deputy governor of the BOC Guangdong branch.     "The service is favored by enterprises and will be promising in the future," said Hu Ye, deputy governor of the ICBC Guangdong branch.     China launched its first yuan cross-border settlement Monday.     China's State Council, or Cabinet, announced in April a pilot program to allow exporters and importers in Shanghai, and southern Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Zhuhai and Dongguan cities to settle cross-border trade deals in Renminbi (RMB), or yuan.     China last week issued detailed regulations for the pilot program for cross-border trade settled in yuan. SINGAPORE, April 25 (Xinhua) -- Singapore's Minister Mentor Lee Kuan Yew met with visiting Chinese State Councilor Liu Yandong here on Saturday.     During the meeting, Liu said that China-Singapore relations have developed rapidly, and cooperations in various fields between the two countries have made great achievements.     She said that the friendly and mutually beneficial cooperations between the two countries have shown great foresight and have been advancing with times.     "The Suzhou Industrial Park has set a successful example for economic and technological cooperations between China and foreign countries. The Tianjin Eco-City, construction of which started last year, unveiled a new chapter for bilateral cooperations in sustainable development and environmental protection fields.
