Scott Thompson never thought making other people smile would be so much fun.“I never thought it would be awesome for myself too. You know, I didn’t know that I would be as happy it as I am," Thompson said.But it’s never too late for an old farmer to learn a new trick.“We started out with a small field, about three or four acres,” he said. But Scott says you can do more than just pick sunflowers while you’re here.“Everybody just seems like they have their little niche of what they want to do. I bet we’ve had five or six different proposals, we’ve had wedding photographers, we’ve had senior pictures, family pictures, so we’re really just trying to spread that fun for everyone,” said Thompson.And when you leave, they want you to take two things with you: some sunflowers and a smile.“It made me happy, and it just gave me a reminder that there’s still sunshine out there, even with everything going on,” said Kronstein smiling as she got ready to leave. 2149

SAN YSIDRO, Calif. (KGTV) -- San Diego Fire-Rescue is on scene of a brush fire burning in San Ysidro Monday afternoon. According to department spokeswoman Mónica Mu?oz, the fire sparked near State Route 905 west and Caliente Avenue in an area near San Ysidro High School. The fire burned about one and a half acres before the forward rate of spread was stopped. No structures were threatened and no one was injured, according to Mu?oz.Three San Diego Fire-Rescue engines and two federal fire brush engines and a helicopter team responded to the blaze. SANTEE, Calif. (KGTV) -- A woman is on high alert after she says a six-foot-long rattlesnake nearly attacked her dog Friday.20-year-old Willow Godshalk-Gross says she let her small dog out just before 10 a.m. Friday on the 7100 block of Mariposa Street.According to the 20-year-old, the dog started running around when Willow noticed a snake. She quickly grabbed the dog and started running back inside.Firefighters responded and found the massive red diamond rattlesnake cozying up net to some rocks near a fence line.A firefighter was able to safely remove the snake with tongs. Crews say this rattlesnake is the largest they’ve ever seen.After being fed and taken care of by a 3rd party, the snake will be released into the wild. 755

SAN MARCOS (KGTV) - A report of a man shooting his wife at their North San Diego County home Tuesday may have been a swatting call, San Diego County Sheriff’s Deputies said.Deputies got a call indicating a man had opened fire on his wife at a home in the 1400 block of Clearview Way near San Elijo Park in San Marcos about 2:30 p.m.Investigators surrounded the home, breaking down the door with guns drawn. They found the man unarmed on the balcony. No victim was in the home. Several schools were temporarily placed on lockdown. The man’s wife later arrived at the scene, unaware of the situation. The woman, who did not want to be identified,  told 10News she and her husband are gamers with millions of followers. "People always have an opinion and they may not like what you do or say and sometimes it’s taken to an extreme when they call the cops on you," said the man's wife. The wife said her husband had no idea deputies had entered the home until he heard shouting. He usually wears a headset while he's playing. "He heard 'this is the police'. I think he heard it, 'this is the police' and he took his headset off and he came downstairs and he saw guns being pointed at him and he wanted to show his hands because he was afraid to get shot," she said. The call made to deputies was traced back to a doctor’s office in Michigan, according to the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department.
