SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- A former Yuma Police officer charged with raping a woman in San Diego is coming face to face with his accuser’s mother. Jared Elkins didn’t flinch in court Tuesday as his wife’s cousin accused him of raping her over and over in her Kensington home. The woman says she didn’t yell because the former officer threatened to kill her. After the rape, the victim said in court that she ran into her mother’s room and escaped out a window. Her mother’s 911 call played in court Tuesday. Elkins’ wife was asleep across the hall. Police body cam footage showed the accuser hysterical in the back of the police car. The woman can be heard telling the officer how afraid she was. Elkins argued that the sex was consensual and the rape charges were made out of guilt. Elkins pleaded not guilty. His attorney said he used bad judgement but the sex was consensual and the two were drinking.He’s facing nine felony counts including forcible rape and could serve 14 years in prison if convicted. SAN DIEGO (CNS) -The county Health and Human Services Agency Friday reported two unrelated tuberculosis cases, and that people may have been exposed to the bacteria at Southwestern and San Diego City colleges, and on a Metropolitan Transit System bus route.The county is working with officials from both community colleges and MTS to notify those who may have been exposed to TB. The periods of possible exposure were:Aug. 26 to Dec. 10, 2019 at Southwestern College;July 26, to Aug. 5, 2019 and Aug. 19 to Dec. 16, 2019 at San Diego City College;July 26 to Aug. 5, 2019 and Aug. 19 to Dec. 16, 2019, Monday through Friday on MTS Bus Route 12, with two departure routes: from Skyline Hills between 7:59 and 8:47 a.m. to City College Transit Center, and from City College Transit Center between 7:04 and 8:04 p.m. to Skyline Hills.Symptoms of active TB include persistent cough, fever, night sweats and unexplained weight loss, said Wilma Wooten, county public health officer. "Most people who are exposed to tuberculosis do not develop the disease," she added.Tuberculosis can be treated and cured with medication. People with TB symptoms or are immuno-compromised are encouraged to see their medical healthcare provider, according to the county.According to the county, the number of tuberculosis cases has decreased since the early 1990s, with 265 cases reported in 2019.Free TB testing will be available at Southwestern College Student Health Services, 900 Otay Lakes Road, from 8 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday, and 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Friday. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — A fan was removed from Petco Park Wednesday, after using "foul language" toward a player.As the San Diego Padres took on the Arizona Diamondbacks, the unnamed fan berated a player on the field. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - A grand jury indicted two San Diego men Thursday on suspicion of blowing up ATM’s in Kearny Mesa and Miramar.Chad Engel, 46, and Scott Petri, 47, were charged with five counts including using explosives for the crimes and conspiracy to commit bank robbery.The first robbery happened July 4, 2017, at the California Coast Credit Union branch ATM on Ruffin Rd. The explosives went off but the ATM was not breached.RELATED: Explosives used in ATM robberiesThe second robbery was on August 13, 2017, at the Chevron gas station on Miramar Rd. Investigators said Engel and Petri drilled a hole in the ATM, filled it with gas, and ignited a fuse.
