Ultimate Fighting Championship star Conor McGregor was charged with three counts of assault and one count of criminal mischief after an alleged bus attack, the New York Police Department said Friday.Bail for the fighter was set at ,000.Police arrested McGregor following the incident Thursday at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn.McGregor allegedly threw something through the window of a minibus, injuring a passenger, according to an NYPD source with knowledge of the event.CNN could not reach McGregor's team for comment.UFC president Dana White told the website MMAjunkie that a member of a credentialed website let McGregor and his entourage of about 20 people into the arena through a door during a media day event. The group went down to the loading dock where some fighters who were to participate in UFC 223 on Saturday were getting on buses.McGregor's group attacked a bus using trash cans, metal barricades and a two-wheeled dolly, White said."This is the most disgusting thing that has ever happened in the history of the company," White told MMAjunkie."This was a real bad career move for him," White said.White said McGregor had "some sort of beef" with lightweight fighter Khabib Nurmagomedov, who was on the bus.Another fighter on the bus, Michael Chiesa, suffered head and facial cuts from broken glass, White told the website. Chiesa later said on Twitter that the New York State Athletic Commission determined he would not be allowed to fight on Saturday."The organization deems today's disruption completely unacceptable and is currently working on the consequences that will follow," UFC said in a statement.Flyweight Ray Borg, who was scheduled to face Brandon Moreno, is also unfit to fight due to multiple corneal abrasions, according to the UFC."Also removed from the card was the featherweight bout between Artem Lobov and Alex Caceres due to Lobov's involvement in the incident," the UFC said. It did not provide details on Lobov's role in the incident."UFC 223 will proceed as scheduled with 10 bouts," the UFC said. "Moving to the Pay-Per-View main card is the featherweight bout between Zabit Magomedsharipov and Kyle Bochniak."According to Bleacher Report, McGregor (21-3) last fought for UFC in November 2016, when he won the 155-pound championship.Nurmagomedov is fighting for the 155 title Saturday, after White said earlier this week McGregor would no longer be permanent champ, according to the Washington Post.McGregor last competed eight months ago, losing to undefeated Floyd Mayweather in a boxing match that reportedly paid Mayweather more than 0 million and McGregor at least million. 2647
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan announced a boycott of American electronics Tuesday after US President Donald Trump's decision to hike tariffs on Turkish steel imports."Whatever we buy from abroad we are going to produce here in better quality and export it. We are going to boycott US electronics," Erdogan said at celebrations of the 17th anniversary of his Justice and Development Party."If they have the iPhone on the other hand there is Samsung. In our country we have Venus and Vestel," he said, referring to a Turkish-made phone made by electronics manufacturer Vestel."What we can do is proved by what we have done so far. Whatever we pay for from abroad, we will do here," he said.It is not clear if this will be an official government boycott or just a call to the Turkish public to stop buying American electronics. 841
VALLEY CENTER, Calif. (KGTV) - A North San Diego County resident resorted to Wild West measures after he was the victim of a crime, creating "Wanted: Dead or Alive" posters to find a thief. The San Diego Sheriff’s Office says approximately ,800 worth of items ranging from power tools to a mountain bike were stolen from a home on Valley Center Road on February 16.SDSO was working the case when the homeowner told deputies he had hung posters with the suspect’s image bearing ‘wanted dead or alive’ and the station’s number around town.“We don’t encourage vigilantism,” said Sgt. Russell Ryan.Ryan says SDSO asked the man to remove the posters but the man claimed he was exercising his first amendment rights.SDSO’s Valley Center substation took to Twitter to clarify they were, in fact, looking for the suspect but there was not a death warrant for alleged thief.Deputies were able identify the suspect as 23-year-old Jose Martinez, thanks to the homeowner's surveillance video. Martinez was taken into custody on Wednesday.Martinez is currently being held at the Vista Detention Facility on several burglary-related charges and is believed to be related to other recent thefts, according to SDSO.Sgt. Ryan says deputies have been able to recover the stolen bike and are searching for the other items.Watch the full story with reporter Travis Rice on 10News at 5 p.m. 1413
VERO BEACH, Fla. -- For Crystal Smith, the midday heat in Florida isn't her biggest challenge. Living in a shelter, the single mom is trying to get back on her feet. She was one of the first people working at the "Dignity Food Truck" in Vero Beach."I've just been making food, certain dishes, just learning. We love the project itself. It fulfills a multitude of needs," said Kristin Rohr with Impact 100.It fills an immediate need for Smith while giving her hope for the future."I would like my own business eventually," said Smith. The Food Truck will be parked at Tropical Scooters along U.S. 1 in Vero Beach on Mondays and Tuesdays. It will be at United Against Poverty Wednesdays and Route 60 Hyundai on Fridays.
