Two days after a gunman murdered 11 people worshipping at a synagogue in Pittsburgh, a leader of a controversial sect of Judaism gave a prayer prior to Mike Pence's campaign rally in Michigan. On Monday evening in Grand Rapids, Michigan, Pence invited Rabbi Loren Jacobs of the Synagogue Shema Yisrael in Michigan to lead a prayer. In his prayer, Jacobs prayed to the "God and father of my lord and savior, Yahshua, Jesus the Messiah."Messianic Jews believe that Jesus is the Messiah promised by the prophets, though they still follow traditional Jewish religious laws. Many traditional Jewish leaders don't consider the movement to be Judaism — many consider it a form of Christian evangelism, and others consider the movement anti-Semitic.Pence's staff later told reporters that Jacobs was invited to the event by Lena Epstein, who's running for Congress and for whom Pence was campaigning. Pence's staff also added that Jacobs was not invited to speak on behalf of the Jewish community. 1017

Vaccinating children has become a hot topic in the last decade, as arguments often play out on social media, leaving some parents unsure and doctors scrambling to get them the right information. Not too long ago, all mother Megan Whelan was thinking about was how to vaccinate her children."With all the information that's out there all the celebrities who are you know spreading their stories And of course all the blog posts and things you see on Facebook and all of that," Whelan said. "It can be really overwhelming."She decided to take her doctor's advice, but said it would have been nice to have other options for trusted information."I think to be able to go to one place where you can hear both sides of the story would be really interesting," Whelan said. "And you know, where you could hear from of course doctors other professionals but even just a panel of moms."Researchers wanted to know if providing parents with accurate clinical information about vaccines through a website with access to vaccine experts would impact their attitudes about them. They found out it did.Dr. Matthew Daley, a senior researcher at Kaiser Permanente, paneled a group of soon-to-be parents. His team gave some parents vaccine information from a website, others information from a website, social media, blogs, podcasts and chats, and others standard care. Daley's team found that website and social interaction improved attitudes toward vaccines in parents who were hesitant about them."Specifically their confidence in the benefits of vaccines improved," Dr. Daley said. "And then there are concerns about the risks of vaccines decreased."Dr. Daley hopes this can be a model used nationwide to address parents vaccine concerns."Parents need more information than they're able to get in a brief visit with their child's physician," Dr. Daley said. 1880

Twitter has again hidden a tweet from President Donald Trump for violating the platform's policies.Hours after President Donald Trump once again encouraged voters in North Carolina to vote twice in the 2020 presidential election, Twitter placed a warning on his tweet, saying that the tweet violated the site's policies on "civic and election integrity.""NORTH CAROLINA: To make sure your Ballot COUNTS, sign & send it in EARLY," Trump tweeted on Saturday morning. "When Polls open, go to your Polling Place to see if it was COUNTED. IF NOT, VOTE! Your signed Ballot will not count because your vote has been posted. Don't let them illegally take your vote away from you!"Voting twice in an election is illegal. Voters can be prosecuted for election fraud submitting both an in-person ballot and a mail-in ballot in North Carolina.Voters in North Carolina (and many other states) can track their mail-in ballots' status online.Josh Stein, North Carolina's Attorney General, warned citizens in his state against voting twice in the 2020 election."Do NOT do what the President directs," Stein said. "To make sure your ballot COUNTS, sign and send it in EARLY. Then track it ONLINE with BALLOTTRAX. Do NOT vote twice (it's a felony), or waste your time, or unnecessarily risk exposure to more people." 1310
