RAMONA, Calif. (KGTV) — A 53-year-old cyclist remains on life support after a hit-and-run crash in Ramona.Michelle Scott was biking to work Wednesday morning on State Route 67 when California Highway Patrol says a driver swerved onto the shoulder and hit her. Scott was wearing a helmet and had lights and reflective gear on her bicycle, her husband said."It was impossible not to have seen her," Don Scott said.RELATED: Bicyclist airlifted after being hurt in hit-and-run crash in RamonaThe crash happened on SR-67 north of Dye Road around 6:30 a.m.Investigators say the driver was in a black 2019 Ford Edge. They've since learned the vehicle had stolen license plates.CHP says the driver sped off from the crash site with Michelle's bicycle still lodged in the front grill, but Don isn't letting anger seep in."Anger is not going to help the recovery process," he said. "I'm actually most focused on the recovery of my wife."Both he and Michelle are Community Emergency Response Team volunteers through FEMA and the Ramona Fire Department, with training to respond to disasters."It's hard to accept the different stages of grieving when you already know them but you're the one that's going through the grieving," he said.Michelle was sent flying into the roadway after the crash. Several bystanders, including a nurse, stopped to help."I was just informed today by the doctors that had it not been for the people stopping, the Good Samaritans, the outcome could have been even worse than it already is," Scott said.Both the family and CHP are hoping a tip from the public will provide a break in the case. RAINBOW, Calif. (KGTV) - A new overpass may be destined for the I-15, not for people but mountain lions.A just-released study led by The Nature Conservancy and backed by the National Park Service recommended a stretch of the I-15 just south of Temecula - either an overpass or underpass like crossings in Colorado, Utah and Wyoming - allowing mountain lions and other wildlife to safely get across.On the west side of the highway is preserve space owned by San Diego State University.  On the other side are 73 acres just purchased by The Nature Conservancy.  Experts says the local mountain lions have been cut off by the freeways and are practicing inbreeding."That makes them more susceptible to disease, and that could be catastrophic for the mountain lion population," said Cara Lacey, an associate program director at The Nature Conservancy.Lacey points out crossings in other states have also cut down on vehicle collisions with wildlife.  She says at least three mountain lions were struck by vehicles in that stretch of I-15 in 2017.  Caltrans is studying a crossing on Highway 101, which would cost between and million. 1165

RED BLUFF, Calif — Two people were left dead and at least four people were in fair condition Saturday after a man drove into a distribution center and started shooting at people. The two deceased people and the four injured ones were treated at St. Elizabeth Community Hospital in Red Bluff. Authorities shot the man. Emergency dispatchers told the Record-Searchlight newspaper that the shooting by a man with “AR-type weapon” started about 3:30 p.m. at the Walmart distribution center. Dispatchers say there also was a fire at the site, and the suspect appears to have rammed a vehicle into the building. The suspect had been shot in the chest around 3:45 p.m. 669

President Donald Trump signaled Tuesday that he will not take strong action against Saudi Arabia or its Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman for the death and dismemberment of Washington Post journalist Jamal Khashoggi.The White House has been struggling to square a widespread sense that the crown prince directed the killing with its desire for Saudi support for its foreign policy priorities and a need to manage close relationships between bin Salman and the Trump administration.In an exclamation-mark laden statement subtitled "America First!"
