(KGTV) - A Caltrans project to expand an SR-78 ramp in North San Diego County has some residents concerned about their safety.Crews have been working on the Woodland Parkway on-ramp to improve the flow of traffic to the freeway. Eventually, there will be an additional lane at the Woodland and Barham on-ramps.Residents told 10News the construction set-up is too dangerous for drivers.“I'm saying a prayer before I get on the ramp cause you really need it,” said Jacqueline Duron.She also said the ramp set-up doesn’t give drivers enough time to speed up and merge onto the freeway safely.“A lot of the times all the lanes are packed - so there's nowhere for anybody to go - and drivers going up the ramp getting smashed on the cement wall,” said Duron.Neighbors also posted concerns on the NextDoor app, calling the situation a ‘death trap’.Crash statistics for the Woodland Parkway ramp to westbound SR-78 show a slight uptick from last year, with seven crashes to the previous year’s five.Even though the number of accidents were slightly higher this year compared to 2017, the CHP says the numbers do not support the existence of an issue.10News talked with Caltrans about neigbors' concerns. The two representatives serve districts that cover north coastal San Diego into Orange County, where SONGS is located. “Today, I’m pleased to announce that when I return to Washington, I’ll be introducing new legislation to ensure the spent fuel here at SONGS receives top priority from the federal government for disposal,” said Rep. Levin. His newest effort will be called the Spent Fuel Prioritization bill. To decommission the power plant, crews have been transferring spent nuclear fuel into square vaults on the beach until the government figures out what to do with them, next, which will likely involve transferring them to a remote, out-of-state location. The congressmen are calling for more federal oversight after safety concerns were raised about the integrity of the fuel storage canisters. Additionally, last summer a loaded canister was nearly dropped several feet. “I think there's dispute and well-intentioned dispute about what the outcome would have been had that 18-foot drop occurred,” adds Rep. (KGTV) - Doorbell camera video of a coyote following a man on a dog walk in Santee may be another example of coyotes becoming more aggressive in the area.On Monday after 9 p.m. on a quiet residential street, Ring doorbell camera video captures a man walking his dog. Moments later, something emerges from the shadows. It a coyote, and it's in an hurry. The video posted on the Ring app is titled "Beware coyote chasing a man with dog." That's exactly what appears to be happening. In the video, the coyote runs down the street before cutting in the man's direction. It's not clear if the coyote did catch up to the man or dog.Last week, 10News reported on Michelle Cimmarrusti's morning walk with Presley, an 8-year-old Silky Terrier. It unfolded on Palm Glen Drive, about a half mile from the site of the newest video. Two coyotes emerged from a bush and attacking Presley, while he was on his leash. Presley lunged, snapping his collar. He and the coyotes would end in a condo complex, where Presley was killed.Presley was the second dog killed by a coyote in the neighborhood in the last few weeks. Experts say coyotes attacking a leashed dog is a sign they're getting more aggressive in an area, and less afraid of humans, whether is food scarcity or the unintentional feeding of coyotes. 1315
