SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - Life is changing on Marine Corps Air Station Miramar, as dozens go into precautionary quarantine after exposure to COVID-19.The protocols you see around San Diego County are in effect on base, bringing the Health Protection Condition on base up to Level Bravo, according to Public Information Officer Capt. Matthew Gregory.The spectrum ranges from Alpha to Delta.RELATED: Third MCAS Miramar Marine tests positive for coronavirusThat means changes to daily life, starting at the gate."Our gate guards are now under a no touch ID policy, so the driver will keep hold of their ID. They'll get looked at by the MPs [Military Police] and wave them through," Capt. Gregory said.Restaurants on base are carry-out only. The chapel, tax center and gym are closed. I cannot remember in my lifetime anything that has happened on this scale," Capt. Gregory said.No tight formations, like you would see at Color Guard practice, or group meetings are allowed to comply with social distancing protocol.The base learned key practices from the CDC and Health and Human Services during the waves of Americans quarantined on base after returning from China, or a cruise. Gregory said.As of Wednesday they have about 45 Marines in the building. Three tested positive for COVID-19. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- Kristin Elliott is CEO of Precision Engineering in Vista, a company that creates water quality sensors for oceans and lakes, "we sell these to universities around the world, work with Scripps Institution of Oceanography," Elliott described.Her work is her passion but so is her team, so when the pandemic hit she said it was her goal not to layoff any employees, taking a pay cut so her team could stay paid."We wanted to save our team through this," she said. Then, there was the announcement kids would be returning to school online."We have this space that we're not gonna be utilizing because no one's having in-person conferences, we're all over zoom these days," turning the room into a classroom. "It's large enough to fit 3 or 4 kids and that's exactly the number of kids we have with our employees. We're going to have a little reading area where kids can switch places to relax and reset. All the things you can normally find in a classroom, a bookshelf with all the interests they might have." Elliott even went to great lengths, hiring an accredited teacher's assistance to help."It's definitely a relief. I know they were just thinking about homeschooling and working, trying to manage that. There's so many emotions involved and so much anxiety and stress, and my goal was to reduce that for our employees."Elliott has followed all CDC protocols and guidelines for her 15 employees working in office, and she'll do the same when their kids come fall."We're still getting the room set up because we want to ensure social distancing between the children and the teacher. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - Local supporters of both Joe Biden and Donald Trump were watching the election vote count closely throughout Friday.Ellen Nash, who heads the San Diego chapter of the Black American Association of Califorina, a minority advocacy group, put up her Biden/Harris yard sign about a month ago.During the election season, she helped organize a voter registration campaign. Since election night, it's been a constant case of the nerves."Incredibly excited, praying night and day," said Nash.Her eyes have been glued to the television and coverage of the vote count. Throughout Friday, her candidate edged closer to being declared the winner."I will feel relieved that the trauma is over. I'm speaking as a black woman who has been under significant trauma the last four years, in terms of some of the language and behavior of the leader of the free world. Hopeful change is coming," said Nash.There is no questioning her dislike of President Trump, but on this day, she is focused on the country’s future."I believe Biden can bring this country together. I believe he can help us heal as a nation," said Nash.It's a different opinion for local Trump supporter, Blake Marnell.During the campaign, Marnell garnered national attention for wearing a brick wall suit, illustrating his support of President Trump’s border security policy. Trump even called him up on stage, as Marnell attended some 15 rallies where the president appeared."He has the right to make these legal moves. He shouldn't be conceding ... mainstream media can do anything they want in terms of calling an election. That doesn’t make it so," said Marnell.Marnell backs Trump's vow to press on with recount and lawsuits involving his claims of voting fraud. After Trump spoke Thursday, some criticized him for alleging fraud but providing no evidence."It would be irresponsible to produce evidence of fraud in a press conference.
