AN DIEGO (CNS) - A 25-year-old man staying at a hotel in the Core-Columbia area was robbed at gunpoint by two men, who forced their way into his room this morning.The man was staying at the Comfort Inn Hotel at 664 G St. when two men wearing black shirts forced their way into his room at 2:20 a.m, according to Officer Robert Heims of the San Diego Police Department.The victim was tied up and the suspects ransacked his room, then left, Heims said.A description of the suspects was not available. Art often provokes emotion and helps us travel back in time, teaching us about our ancestors.“Hola, my name is Claudia Moran and I’m the Executive Director for Museo de las Americas,” Moran said.At Museo de las Americas in Denver, Colorado, Latinx artists are given a space to represent their culture.“Art is very powerful in the influence of Latinx artists and the history of art in the United States,” Moran said.In the midst of National Hispanic Heritage Month, Museo is hosting an exhibition called Rhythm and Ritual.“It’s an exhibition that showcases a pre-Columbian collection that focuses on musical instruments. And yes, it’s a very, very rare exhibition because we’re able to see many pre-Columbian exhibitions everywhere, but none that only focus on music,” Moran said.The goal is to demonstrate the value of music since the pre-Columbian times and educate people on the type of music that was played 1,500 years ago. Museo de las Americas commissioned a local Hispanic artist to help tell that story. David Ocelotl Garcia is a sculpture and painter.Garcia grew up in Colorado, but his parents are from Mexico.“My mother is from Guadalajara, Jalisco, and my father is from Leon, Guanajuato,” Garcia said.He says he feels connected to his culture and finds it beautiful.“My heritage is very significant in my work, so I’ve learned to really study that and use it so that I can tell my own stories about where we are today.”For the Rhythm and Ritual exhibition, he painted a mural he admired as a child.“He reproduced an original mural from Bonampak in Mexico from the state of Chiapas, and this mural is a very accurate replica of a group of Mayan people playing different instruments,” Moran said.“I believe they’re probably participating in a ceremony, so there’s many characters playing different instruments that many people, including myself, have never seen,” Garcia said.Garcia says it’s important for people not to forget where they come from.“Make sure we embrace our roots and our traditions and the way we do things and use that as a part of the way we advance and move forward,” Garcia said.As we move forward as a society, Moran says we can learn from our ancestors and appreciate what different cultures have to bring to the table.“We all should be very, very open to new ideas, don’t be scared of them, and embrace them because that’s what is going to take us through arts and our artistic lives to a whole new level,” Moran said. 2462

An unauthorized vehicle drove onto Travis Air Force Base in Northern California, crashed and erupted into flames, killing the driver, authorities said.There were no other fatalities in the security breach Wednesday night, the base said in a statement. It did not identify the driver, but said the car "gained unauthorized access" through the main gate."Travis AFB security forces immediately responded," the statement said. "Additionally, the base's explosive ordnance disposal team, office of special investigations and other responders were on scene."It's unclear whether the crash was deliberate. The Air Force and the FBI are investigating."The investigation is ongoing and there are no current known threats to the base or community," the base said. John McCain who had met with former British intelligence agent Christopher Steele -- sent a letter to the House Intelligence Committee accusing the committee's Republicans of leaking information about Kramer's December testimony to the attorney of another witness.The attorney, Larry Robbins, was referencing a conversation with Cohen's attorney Stephen Ryan in which Ryan brought up Kramer's testimony, according to the source. After the conversation, Robbins sent the committee a letter demanding to know why a committee official had shared secret testimony with another lawyer, but instead his client was subpoenaed by House Intelligence Chairman Devin Nunes to return before the committee on short notice.Leaking testimony to another witness is a violation of committee rules. And the fact that Cohen is alleged to have been the recipient of leaked information raises new questions about whether a key player in the President's orbit received private information about an investigation examining whether the Trump campaign colluded with Russia in the 2016 elections.CNN first reported last month on the accusation that Kramer's testimony had been leaked to another lawyer. The Daily Beast first reported that Cohen's attorney was the recipient of the alleged leak.Kramer was of interest to the committee because of his role connected to the dossier written by Steele, which Nunes and other Republicans have sought to discredit.
