PHOENIX — From top restaurants to moving companies, you have probably used Yelp before to find businesses to use. But have you ever thought to use the website to find a daycare?The site can sometimes be a dumping ground for complaints. So, is it credible when looking for someone to look after a child? Researchers at Arizona State University decided to find out.The study included 40 cities and roughly 50,000 submissions on nearly 10,000 childcare facilities. Three of those 40 cities were Phoenix, Mesa and Tucson.Researchers tell KNXV even they were shocked by the findings.They found, through the reviews, that a majority of parents were meticulous and detailed. More than 75 percent gave a 5-star review.As for why they decided research like this was important, ASU said they wanted to see exactly what parents were looking for in childcare, what they were saying in these reviews and how uncovering that could lead to policy changes that could benefit all children.But, despite overwhelmingly positive reviews, lower-income families often reported more bad experiences, disrespect and a lack of learning for their children.Chris Herbst, an associate professor at ASU, was deeply involved in this study. He hopes this research will encourage parents to keep documenting their experiences."It provides this sort of learning loop for childcare providers," Herbst explained. "So, if providers know the parents... feel a certain way about the program, then providers can use this information to inform their... quality improvement activities."While these reviews are a good start, Herbst stresses that parents have plenty of tools they can use, beyond just basing it on online reviews.One suggestion he gives is using the Quality Rating and Improvement System.Parents can search their state and look-up different facilities to see how this system evaluates and rates the program's quality.KNXV also reached out to Erin Raden for more tools and advice for parents. She is the executive director of the Arizona Early Childhood Education Association.In regards to using online reviews like Yelp, Raden said it is good to use. However, it should not be the only way you make a childcare decision."You may have a parent that's upset about something," Raden said. "And that might be the right choice for them to no longer take their child there. But that doesn't mean that it wouldn't be the right choice for you."Raden also suggests taking your time and visiting at least two or three facilities."It's just going to be a lot about what feels right to you and you should always trust your instincts," Raden explained.She said that it is not about a facility being the most beautiful place, but instead look at how the students are engaged with their instructors. 2826

PHOENIX - Latest polling numbers released from the Secretary of State’s office shows Kyrsten Sinema has taken a slight lead over Martha McSally in the race for Arizona Senate.As of 5:30 p.m. Thursday, Sinema has 916,380 votes statewide, while McSally has 914,369.345,000 votes remain uncounted in Maricopa County while a small number of ballots remain uncounted as well in smaller counties.Officials estimate about 195,000 of those are early ballots, provisional, and out-of-precinct ballots that voters cast or dropped off on Election Day.It is one of the most-watched races across the country: will Martha McSally, a Republican, or Kyrsten Sinema, a Democrat, serve as Arizona's first congresswoman?Both are vying to fill Sen. Pfizer announced Monday that its COVID-19 vaccine candidate has been 90% effective.In a press release, the company said that in Phase 3 trials, the vaccine has proven to promote a vaccine efficacy rate above 90% following the two-shot regimen.The Associated Press said that while Pfizer's announcement means the company is on track to file an application for emergency use authorization later this month, it does not mean a vaccine is "imminent" and more studies are needed.Pfizer's vaccine candidate began Phase 3 testing in the summer and is among a handful of vaccine candidates that could be distributed in the coming months pending FDA approval.Phase 3 trials consist of testing about 30,000 voluntary participants in a double-blind study — meaning half of those participating receive the vaccine, and half receive a placebo. Pfizer's vaccine requires two shots, which need to be taken 28 days apart.According to Pfizer, 90% of those who were tested for the vaccine had developed protection against the virus seven days following the second shot.Pfizer is already in the process of producing millions of doses of its vaccine candidate after the U.S. government agreed to pay .95 billion for 100 million doses of the vaccine, should it prove effective. If and when the FDA grants approval for the vaccine, it will be distributed to hospitals around the country by the U.S. military in an effort the Trump administration has dubbed "Operation Warp Speed.Even though hundreds of thousands of doses of the Pfizer vaccine will be ready for shipment if it is approved for emergency use, it will need to be rationed in the first months of its availability. PINE VALLEY, Calif. (KGTV) - A man suspected of smuggling drugs along Interstate 8 with his teenage son in the car was arrested Friday by U.S. Border Patrol agents in Pine Valley. The 62-year-old unidentified man drove a Honda Accord through the I-8 immigration checkpoint and triggered a Border Patrol canine response, agents said. A secondary inspection turned up anomalies with the car’s battery.Agents said they found four vaccuum-sealed bags that tested positive for characteristics of cocaine. The packages weighed 10 pounds and had a street value of more than 0,000, according to the Border Patrol. The man, a U.S. citizen, was taken into the custody of the Drug Enforcement Administration. His 15-year-old son was turned over to the custody of his aunt. 773

"Help me find these two. This was taken at Taft Point, in Yosemite National Park on October 6th, 2018.
