SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — Bernie Sanders is showing his support for dozens of hotel workers on strike over their pay and benefits. The former presidential candidate stood alongside protestors at The Westin Hotel on Friday. “Nobody wants to do this. We would all like to work right now,” says employee Arturo Ramirez.Ramirez has been working at The Westin Hotel since February. With the high cost of living in San Diego, Ramirez says its sometimes hard to pay the bills.“My mother and I, we work at the same hotel. We’re struggling to pay ,100 in rent," Ramirez says.Bernie Sanders took the stage to show his support to workers during his visit to San Diego.“We’re saying to Marriott who owns Westin, we’re saying to every corporation in this country who make billions of dollars in profit, pay your workers a living wage," Sanders said to a crowd of protesters.Employees are asking for a raise of at least an hour and a chance to save for their retirement.“It’s a billion dollar company that needs to pay the workers a living wage so they can live in the city of San Diego," says Bridgett Browning, President of Unite Here Union. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - Country music lovers in Mission Valley are fighting to keep InCahoots from closing at the end of the year. One woman started a petition on change.org in hopes of saving the beloved bar. Former congressional candidate Morgan Murtaugh started the petition on Sunday. She said she has been going to InCahoots for years and was devastated to find out the bar was sold. The owner tells 10News the land was sold and their lease was not extended. The bar’s last day is scheduled for New Year's Eve.RELATED: Beloved country bar InCahoots to close December 31Murtaugh hopes the new landowner will reconsider and let the bar continue leasing the building. If not, she says she plans on fighting any future plans for the use of the building or the land.InCahoots has been in Mission Valley for 26 years. CDC offers guidanceWhile Memorial Day weekend say many Americans looking to cool off, the Centers of Disease Control and Prevention offered new guidance on community pools. The agency says currently, "there is no evidence that the virus that causes COVID-19 can be spread to people through the water in pools, hot tubs, spas, or water play areas. Proper operation and maintenance (including disinfection with chlorine and bromine) of these facilities should inactivate the virus in the water."But for San Diego County, health officials are leaning on the state for the go ahead on pools. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - At least one person is dead after a collision in Sorrento Valley early Saturday.A field of debris marked the site of the collision on northbound Interstate 5 at the I-805 connector. California Highway Patrol officers the crash included a white Toyota Tacoma and a red Honda.The driver of the Honda died at the scene. CHP officials said they believe that person was driving the wrong way and may have been under the influence of alcohol - multiple beer cans were found in the vehicle.The driver of the Toyota was taken to a nearby hospital with serious injuries. Officials said  He was in his truck with his dog at the time of the crash.
