BEIJING, Jan. 14 (Xinhua) -- Chinese Vice Premier Li Keqiang has stressed that more efforts were needed to ensure stable energy supply, which should be regarded as a key task in regulating current economic operation.     Li made the remarks Wednesday when inspecting the State Electricity Regulatory Commission and the State Grid Corporation of China on power supply during winter.     He urged relative departments to help the grassroots relieve supply-demand strains in certain areas. BEIJING, Feb. 21 (Xinhua) -- China's tourism revenue rose 26.9 percent to 64.62 billion yuan (9.46 billion U.S. dollars) during the Spring Festival, the National Tourism Administration (NTA) said Sunday.China received 125 million tourists during the holiday period from Feb. 13 to 19, up 14.8 percent from the same period last year, a statement on the NTA website said.Of the tourism revenue, 4.6 billion yuan came from airlines while 2.83 billion yuan from railways. The tourists spent 26.51 billion yuan in China's 39 key tourism cities and 30.68 billion yuan in other areas.Among the tourists, 29.92 million stayed overnight and 95.13 million stayed for less than one day.

CAIRO, March 3 (Xinhua) -- The commander-in-chief of Egyptian armed forces met Wednesday in Cairo with visiting Deputy Chief of General Staff of the Chinese People's Liberation Army Ma Xiaotian, pledging to strengthen bilateral military ties.Mohammed Hussein Tantawi, who is also Egyptian Minister of Defense, said during the meeting that the two countries have seen close cooperation in military, political and economic fields in recent years, which serves both countries' interests as well as regional and world peace and stability."The Egyptian military attaches great importance to the friendly relationship with the Chinese counterpart and expects more efforts to be made to further improve pragmatic cooperation," Tantawi said.For his part, Ma said the two sides enjoy long-term friendly relationship, and fruitful cooperation has been accomplished in the fields of high-level visits and professional personnel training."The Chinese side is willing to make joint efforts with the Egyptian side to consolidate the traditional friendship and push forward the in-depth cooperation between the two militaries," Ma said.Ma arrived in Cairo on Tuesday. PARIS, Feb. 16 (Xinhua) -- French President Nicolas Sarkozy met with hundreds of Chinese representatives during a reception at Elysee on Tuesday, the first celebration of Chinese Spring Festival at the presidential palace.At the reception, which aims to co-celebrate the lunar New Year, or Spring Festival, the president greeted happy new year to around 800 Asian attendees, mainly Chinese-French and Chinese visitors living in France.Sarkozy said the relations between France and Asian countries, including China, was becoming closer and closer.
