Two years in, she's encouraged and inspired by how fast kids learn.“What I love most is connecting with the kids and getting excited about the way they learn,” Samynathan said. “They are so unique, each one of them. If they (watched) a YouTube channel last night, they can tell me what was so interesting about the channel immediately. They’ll go to the rowlocks camera and start implanting that same thing."They've been doing virtual learning all summer, and they're about to do it a lot more. This time around though, many franchises like Samynathan's are offering parents a helping hand by providing assistance with a student's distance learning and provide some coding fun on the side."We can offer a STEM-based learning where they can learn coding, robotics, and they can do academics, homework,” Samynathan said. “If they’re going to cover a subject at school, we do it prior so they have a better understanding in doing that particular subject.”Some Code Ninja centers, like the one in Los Alamitos, California, sent out a survey to parents. They're taking about hiring an elementary school teacher to help proctor the learning so parents can work and kids can stay on task in their classroom while learning online. It's something that Nina Foster, mom to an 11-year-old in San Diego, is considering.“Preston is anxious to do more things on the outside again we may go back to doing one hour in the studio one at home, something like that,” Foster said.So far, Preston has kept up his coding skills through the center's virtual program and he's excelled.“He’s almost through the program,” Foster said. “He’s on the purple level -- it goes up to black just like karate. Authorities have now found two packages addressed to former Vice President Joe Biden that are similar in appearance and contain potential explosive devices that resemble the others sent earlier this week to prominent critics of President Donald Trump and CNN, a law enforcement official said Thursday.The two packages, discovered at Delaware postal facilities, were removed late Thursday morning, law enforcement officials said.Earlier Thursday, a suspicious package addressed to actor-director Robert De Niro was reported at the Manhattan building where his production company is based, and its marking and contents appear similar to the other pipe bomb packages, two law enforcement sources said.The FBI said Thursday morning that the three packages are "similar in appearance to the others."A manhunt is underway for the perpetrator behind the packages. Jared Polis announced Wednesday that he is looking into what his office can do to respond to the death of Elijah McClain, a 23-year-old Black man who died following an interaction with Aurora police last August.“I am hearing from many Coloradans who have expressed concerns with the investigation of Elijah McClain’s death. As a result, I have instructed my legal council [sic] to examine what the state can do and we are assessing next steps,” Polis said in a tweet Wednesday afternoon.Over the past couple of weeks, interest in the case has grown both locally and nationally. People from Colorado State Rep. Leslie Herod to U.S. Sen. Elizabeth Warren, Ellen Degeneres and Martin Luther King Jr.’s daughter, Bernice King, have made calls for justice in the case and a renewed investigation into what happened that night and if officers should face punishment. Officers had responded to a call about a suspicious man wearing a ski mask and waving his arms. When they arrived, they contacted McClain, who they claimed resisted when the officers tried to detain him, police said.A struggle ensued, and a responding officer requested that a paramedic give McClain a dose of ketamine "due to the level of physical force applied while restraining the subject and his agitated mental state," officials said.But in the department's review of the incident earlier this year, the board found that the officers "had a lawful reason to contact Mr. McClain."The board also found that the force applied by officers — which included a carotid control hold — during the incident was "within policy and consistent with training."The carotid hold has since been banned by the department.The Adams County Coroner conducted the autopsy on McClain and ruled that the manner of his death was "undetermined," saying it could not determine whether his death was an accident, due to natural causes or a homicide.District Attorney Dave Young said Wednesday his office received more than 1,700 voicemails on Tuesday alone about the McClain case.He says he has to make a decision based on evidence and that a jury would find compelling beyond a reasonable doubt.“Understand that my role is limited to determine whether or not a criminal violation occurred. I am not indicating that the actions of the police department were appropriate.
