7.5/10The original Super Mario All-Stars for the Super Nintendo is pound-for-pound the greatest video game cartridge ever released. Having easy access to Mario’s first three 2D adventures provides an easy way to experience the evolution and improvements made with each entry. Most importantly, all three of those games still hold up in 2020. When it comes to Super Mario 3D All-Stars, a package that includes Super Mario 64, Super Mario Sunshine, and Super Mario Galaxy, this is not the case, but that doesn’t mean Nintendo’s new collection on the Switch is one to overlook. Image from Nintendo.com Super Mario 64Let’s get this out of the way. Super Mario 64 does not hold up. I know, it saddens me too. Mario’s first 3D adventure is arguably one of the most important video games of all time, but mamma-mia, has this game aged poorly. As soon as I jumped into the Bob-omb Battlefield course at the start, my gaming brain was startled by the game’s awful camera system, which makes completing an objective far more frustrating than I remember in 1996. Obtaining stars on each course is still exhilarating, but the excitement stemmed from the relief of conquering the awkward jumping angles, rather than accomplishing the task at hand. When it comes to visuals, the game looks exactly how you remember, albeit a bit smoother in some textures. It even retains the 4:3 aspect ratio. If you’re looking to experience the origins of 3D Mario titles, give this a look, if just for a nostalgia fill and move on. Image from Nintendo.com Super Mario SunshineThe most non-traditional of 3D Mario entries is by far Super Mario Sunshine. Originally on the only console to ever feature a handle, the Nintendo Gamecube, this game is worth a second look. Sunshine’s verticality, combined with its open-world structure, feels surprisingly modern and its difficulty remains among the highest in the Mario series, even if it’s sometimes unintentional due to the game’s bugginess. Controlling Mario with his water-filled jet pack still feels unlike anything else in the series, making for some literal refreshing mechanics that I enjoyed during my playthrough. From an art standpoint, I absolutely adore the colorful, tropical look of Isle Delfino and the characters that populate it. It’s not the best 3D Mario game, but don’t overlook this nautical adventure. Image from Nintendo.com Super Mario GalaxyThis was my first time experiencing Mario’s outer space escapade. If you told me this game came out this generation, you could easily fool me. Super Mario Galaxy hasn’t aged a day since its release in 2007. Its space-aesthetic rivals the art direction of any Nintendo Switch game to date, and its tight controls feel fantastic. Running around bite-sized planets, playing with gravity, and that launching into the next world animation makes me want to stop writing this review and go play it right now. I am cherishing the number of stars I have left to collect. It’s a real shame that Super Mario Galaxy 2 was left off of this collection. Perhaps it’s time to go dig out my Wii to experience the sequel. Galaxy is reason enough to purchase this bundle, even at the slightly steep price point. The full packageSuper Mario 3D All-Stars is just the meat and potatoes without any added junk food to consume. Aside from a playlist of 175 iconic Mario jams to listen to separately, this collection has zero special features. I would have loved to see a documentary about the making of these games, or even some never-before-seen sketches when the game was in its early stages. Instead, we’re simply left with the bare minimum of the three original games with some slightly improved visuals. Still, though, this is the easiest way to play these titles in 2020. If you’re on the fence about purchasing, this game is only available until March 31, 2021, according to Nintendo. While the timed-purchasing opportunity seems pointless, this collection is a thrilling and nostalgic trip down memory lane.Review code provided by publisher For more game reviews, follow Joey Greaber Facebook|Twitter 4184

Baylor Football's season opener against Louisiana Tech has been postponed after Louisiana Tech saw an increase in COVID-19 cases following Hurricane Laura.Baylor-Louisiana Tech Season Opener Postponed? https://t.co/tL9aDCgBki#SicEm | #BUiltDifferent pic.twitter.com/KSa2ZE1XAV— Baylor Football (@BUFootball) September 9, 2020 Kickoff was initially set for 11 a.m. CT on Saturday, September 12 at McLane Stadium. Both teams have agreed to monitor dates throughout the season to potentially makeup the game. "We are incredibly disappointed to announce the postponement of our upcoming football game against Louisiana Tech," said Baylor Director of Athletics Mack B. Rhoades. "However, in the interest of the health and wellness of our student-athletes, coaches, and staff, we are confident in this unfortunate but necessary course of action. To the Baylor and Louisiana Tech student-athletes and communities, we share in your disappointment and look ahead to resuming play.""We are obviously very disappointed that we will not be able to open the season this weekend at Baylor," said Louisiana Tech Director of Athletics Tommy McClelland. "However, with the number of recent positive COVID19 results and contact tracing, it is simply not possible. We would be putting our student-athletes at risk."It is obvious that the impact of Hurricane Laura in our community a few weeks ago really sparked our significant increase in numbers. With 95 percent of our city losing power for days – even up to a week in many areas – our student-athletes were forced to find places to stay and some even had family from south Louisiana that came northward to stay with them. So many things that we were able to control for the month of August became out of our control, and I think the numbers prove that it took its toll."The days leading up to this outbreak, we had a stretch of three weeks with only one positive case. So the protocols we had in place were working prior to Hurricane Laura."Adjusted game dates and times will be communicated to original ticket holders via email as more information is released. President Donald Trump said tonight that he has signed an executive order to shut down the use of Chinese-based social media applications TikTok and WeChat in 45 days. The order specifically prohibits any U.S. transactions with TikTok's parent company, ByteDance, starting on Sept. 20.Trump cited privacy concerns for taking the action against the social media networks.TikTok in particular has gained popularity among younger Americans in recent months for its short, entertaining video clips. The TikTok community has often been critical of Trump. Earlier in the summer, users of TikTok organized by reserving tickets to Trump’s rally in Tulsa, which failed to draw the type of crowds the Trump campaign expected.Trump said in his order that WeChat and TikTok “automatically captures vast swaths of information from its users -- threatens to allow the Chinese Communist Party access to Americans’ personal and proprietary information. In addition, WeChat captures the personal and proprietary information of Chinese nationals visiting the United States, thereby allowing the Chinese Communist Party a mechanism for keeping tabs on Chinese citizens who may be enjoying the benefits of a free society for the first time in their lives.”The Trump administration has complained that the application takes data and is used by the Chinese government."All the things that you care that you want to make sure the Chinese Communist Party doesn’t have, we have a responsibility to make sure that the systems that you’re using don’t give them access to that," US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo said two weeks ago. After Trump first said he would ban TikTok in the US last week, TikTok responded by saying in a post on Twitter, “We’re not planning on going anywhere.”Trump said earlier this week he is open to changing his mind if TikTok is sold to an American company. "But if somebody and whether it's Microsoft or somebody else buys it, that'll be interesting," Trump said. "I did say that, if you buy it, whatever the price is that goes to whoever owns it, because I guess it's China essentially, but more than anything else, I said, a very substantial portion of that price is going to have to come into the treasury of the United States because we're making it possible for this deal to happen." 2313

Prosecutors have charged a 17-year-old from Illinois in the fatal shooting of two protesters in Kenosha, Wisconsin, and the wounding of a third. Kenosha County District Attorney Michael Graveley filed the charges against Kyle Rittenhouse Thursday afternoon. The charges include one count of first-degree intentional homicide; one count of first-degree reckless homicide; one count of attempted first-degree intentional homicide; two counts of first-degree reckless endangerment. All those charges are felonies. He could face a mandatory life sentence if convicted of first-degree intentional homicide, the most serious crime in Wisconsin. A photo of 17-year-old Kyle Rittenhouse posted on Tik Tok (Kyle Rittenhouse/ Tik Tok) Rittenhouse was arrested in Antioch, Illinois Wednesday and charged with first-degree intentional homicide. He turned himself in at the Antioch police headquarters, according to police. Prosecutors say Rittenhouse opened fire with a long gun on a crowd of protesters Tuesday night near Civic Center Park in Kenosha. One victim was injured and is recovering in the hospital. The other two were pronounced dead from bullet wounds.Rittenhouse remains in custody of the Lake County Judicial System awaiting extradition to Wisconsin.Shortly before midnight Tuesday, cell phone video from Twitter user ‘LivesMatterShow’ captured the gunfire that erupted in a car lot near 63rd and Sheridan. Jhalin Goodlow said he witnessed the shooting while working security across the street.“Once I heard gunshots, I booked it because I wasn’t armed,” he said. “I didn’t have no protection.”While Goodlow was taking cover, he heard more shots on the street in front of him.Cell phone video that was posted to social media by ‘BGOnTheScene’ shows a man who was armed with a rifle get up off the ground and shoot two people less than 10 feet away from him.“This not the action of those I believe who set out to do protests, it is the people who were involved after the legal timing involved in illegal activity that brought violence to this community,” Kenosha Police Chief Miskinis said on Wednesday.Law enforced officials were questioned Wednesday about the events that occurred after the shooting. Cell phone video shows the gunman walked over to officers with his hands in the air. Police are seen in the video moving past him to tend to the victims.“There’s screaming, there’s hollering, there’s a squad car running there’s bearcats idling and if the officer happened to be in the car, the radio traffic was nonstop,” explained Kenosha County Sheriff David Beth.Kenosha County Sheriff Beth believes the suspect was with a group of armed people who claimed to have come to Kenosha to protect businesses and homes from looting and fires. Mayor John Antaramian said their presence isn’t wanted in Kenosha.“I don’t need more guns on the street in the community when we are trying to keep people safe,” he said. “Law enforcement is trained. They’re the ones responsible.Chief Miskinis said a 36-year-old person from Kenosha and a 26-year-old person from Silver Lake died in the shooting. Their names haven’t been officially released. This article was written by WTMJ.The Associated Press contributed to this report. 3268
