NASHVILLE, Tenn. — Tennessee will soon have one of the most restrictive abortion laws in the nation.Just after midnight Friday morning, state lawmakers passed a fetal heartbeat bill. The law was one that Gov. Bill Lee said was one of his priorities for the current legislative session, adding that he believes that "every human life is precious, and we have a responsibility to protect it."The bill would ban abortions once a fetal heartbeat is detected, typically about six weeks into pregnancy. It's not uncommon for a fetal heartbeat to occur before a woman knows she is pregnant.The bill would also require mothers to get an ultrasound before an abortion and would forbid an abortion when the doctor is aware the decision is motivated by race, sex, health or disability."It does that in a way that we believe is legally defensible," Rep. William Lamberth, R-Portland, said. "Every time we have passed a measure that was in favor of a life in the womb, it has been challenged in the courts. This bill is in such solid legal footing. We feel good about the fact that it could save millions of lives. And those lives are their most vulnerable because they are still in their mother's womb."The passing of the bill shocked Democrats and anti-abortion activists because they had been told for weeks that the Senate would not take up the bill."The fetal heartbeat bill, which is one of the most extreme, anti-choice bills passed in the United States, was used as a trade-off by the House Republicans to get some budget concessions," Rep. Mike Stewart, D-Davidson County said. "I just don't think serious legislation like that should be used as a budget bargaining chip.""Lack of access to abortion care particularly harms those struggling financially and those who already face significant barriers to health care, including people of color, people with limited incomes, rural people, and young people," the American Civil Liberties Union said in a statement. "Politicians should not be deciding what is best for women and certainly not making reproductive health care decisions for them. NATIONAL CITY, Calif. (KGTV) -- A National City family was shocked Monday when they showed up at their business and noticed someone broke-in and vandalized their business. Dulce Tablas' parents own Diva's Fashion 2 in National City, a store in which they sell formal clothing like ball gowns and tuxedos. The family also owns a banquet hall and a second clothing store. The family showed up to find their storefront window broken, glass all over the ground and a designer quincea?era dress, worth over 0, gone. The person who took the dress grabbed it from the mannequin. Tablas says it will cost the family over ,000 to fix the window. The family is wondering if they were targeted. Last week, during the Black Lives Matter protests, they decided to paint the phrase on their windows. After the break-in, Tablas said she noticed the phrase had an "X" through it. The break-in came on the same day the family decided to close down one of their locations, not able to survive during the COVID-19 pandemic. The business that was vandalized is the one staying open. The family also says they had insurance and surveillance cameras but they had cut the expense in April since they were closed due to the pandemic. More than 40 percent of attendees at an overnight summer camp became infected with Covid-19 within days before officials shut it down, according to the CDC.Local media reports it was a YMCA camp near a lake in Rabun County, Georgia.More than 260 staff and campers tested positive for the coronavirus, out of a total 597 people who were at the camp sometime between when it opened and when it closed in mid-June. Of the 260 who tested positive, 231 were campers aged 6 to 17 years old.In their report published Friday, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention says camp officials followed most of their recommended safety protocols. They say the two measures not implemented were cloth masks for campers and opening windows and doors for increased ventilation in buildings. Masks were required for staff members.The camp held orientation for staff members and trainees between June 17 to 21, then were joined by hundreds of kids on June 21 for a week-long camp session.On June 23, a teen staff member left the camp after developing chills the night before. They tested positive for Covid-19, and the camp began sending kids home on June 24. The entire camp was closed June 27.The camp was adhering to Georgia’s Executive Order that allowed overnight camps and required negative coronavirus tests less than 11 days before attending.“These findings demonstrate that SARS-CoV-2 spread efficiently in a youth-centric overnight setting, resulting in high attack rates among persons in all age groups, despite efforts by camp officials to implement most recommended strategies to prevent transmission,” says the CDC report on this outbreak.From the 136 cases where the CDC was able to gather symptom data, about 26 percent of those who tested positive for coronavirus had no symptoms at the time. 1804

NASHVILLE, Tenn. - Every week, hundreds of people from around the world visit The Free Pizza Dude account on Imgur, created by a Nashville man, to either ask for food assistance or help out."I've been able to carve out this kind of wholesome side of Imgur where people come to my post to help other people," said Mr. Puckett, the virtual Imgur user with more than 7 million up-votes. "We had all of these people kind of wanting to help, but had no idea how to."In August 2019, Mr. Puckett created The Free Pizza Dude page to help connect the people in need of a meal to willing donors."We're not trying to end world hunger we're trying to make people happy. [Those] who would not otherwise be able to afford this kind of food," said Mr. Puckett.So far, the page has allowed people to send nearly 4,000 pizzas to strangers in need.Mr. Puckett knows what it is like to be hungry."I had problems with alcohol and was homeless for four years before I got on Imgur. I knew if I ever got on my feet again, I wanted to do something where we could send food to people that wasn't rice and beans - that wasn't food shelf kind of food - something they could really enjoy and remember for some time because I always did and I always remembered the food people sent me," he said.Through his website, pizza angels from all over the world have sent paid-for pizzas to strangers and fulfilled more than 100 detailed grocery requests too."Everybody wants to help, but they want to have fun doing it, and they want to have security that they're helping the right person, and I think we've done all three of those things," he said.Mr. Puckett puts out a new call for pizza donations every Friday.He said the reason he does this is simple."I was homeless for so long and so many people from my childhood days helped me.
