Carnival Cruise Lines announced Wednesday that it had canceled most cruises that were scheduled to embark from U.S. through the end of January 2021.In addition, the company announced that all cruises embarking from Baltimore; Charleston, South Carolina; Long Beach, California; Mobile, Alabama; New Orleans and San Diego has been canceled through the end of February and that all cruises on the Carnival Legend that embark from Tampa, Florida had been canceled through March 28.In a tweet, Carnival said that when it restarts operations in 2021, it will focus on cruises embarking from Miami and Port Canaveral, Florida. (KGTV) — Six prison guards were injured during an attack by an inmate this week, leading to the use of deadly force.Calipatria State Prison inmate Douglas Compton refused to leave an "out-of-bounds" area in the prison's yard on Thursday after three officers ordered him to do so, according to the state's Department of Correction and Rehabilitation (CDCR).Compton then stabbed one of the officers in the head and face, CDCR says. Responding officers used batons, pepper spray, and other use-of-force options to try and subdue Compton.During the struggle, Compton punched another two officers.An officer in an observation tower discharged one lethal round from a rifle to stop the attack. No one was injured by the use of lethal force, CDCR says.Six officers were injured and taken to an outside hospital for treatment and released.Compton was injured and treated, before being transferred to another prison.CDCR added that two inmate-made weapons were recovered at the scene. CDCR investigators are investigating the weapons as well as the use of deadly force.Compton was sentenced to 112 years to life in prison following a 2013 conviction of second-degree murder, voluntary manslaughter with the use of a firearm and possession of a firearm by an ex-felon with the use of an altered ID. 1315

Peacocks still roam the property, original descendants of the birds Carrillo bought for the ranch."You can truly lose yourself out here," said Calarco. The old adobe buildings have been beautifully restored to their original splendor. Carrillo bought the property in 1937. His famous friends, including Clark Gable would often visit the ranch. In every building you can see Carrillo's vision for preserving early ranch architecture. Adobe was a central theme in Leo's remembrance of of his childhood ranches. After Carrillo's daughter, Tony, left the estate, the buildings began to fall apart. The City of Carlsbad acquired the remaining 10.5-acre ranch in 1977. It now serves as a park to educate and advocate for ranch preservation and restoration. The park is open daily 9 A.M.- 5 p.m. 1359
