(KGTV) - The first woman on the West Coast to graduate from the Howitzer Section Chief course is stationed at Camp Pendleton.The Howitzer is the largest land gun in the Marine Corps. As the section chief, Corporal Julianna Yakovac is in charge of the unit firing the gun.Yakovac broke the glass ceiling in February, graduating on Valentine's Day. CHICAGO, Ill. – According to the Mueller report, during the last election, Russian hackers breached the computer network of the Illinois State Board of Elections, gaining access to information on millions of registered voters. It was just one example of the vulnerabilities in the U.S. election system.Intelligence officials and security experts agree that cyber-attacks like the one’s perpetrated during the 2016 presidential election are not a thing of the past.“There's no reason to believe that attacks like that would not happen in this election,” said Jake Braun, executive director at the Cyber Policy Initiative at the University of Chicago. He’s also the author of “Democracy in Danger: How Hackers and Activists Exposed Fatal Flaws in the Election System.”Braun says the two most serious vulnerabilities lie in voter registration databases and election night returns data. He says the hacking of either could cause chaos at the polls or spawn conspiracy theories about the election’s outcome.“We're already seeing ransomware attacks on databases and we're already seeing things like fake websites to mimic election websites being put up,” said Braun.Mary Hanley, Associate Director of the Cyber Policy Initiative, says they are trying to help protect against those kinds of attacks. (KGTV) - A brush fire on base at Camp Pendleton was visible above North San Diego County Monday afternoon.Camp Pendleton officials reported the vegetation fire was located on range 409, at the northeast end of the base.The smoke was reported in the Fallbrook area near the base, according to North County Fire. SDG&E's Alert fire camera showed a large plume from the Red Mountain viewpoint."There is no threat to our district at this time," North County Fire tweeted. Camp Pendleton officials confirmed there was no danger to structures.Base officials said on Twitter later Monday night that the forward progress of the fire had been stopped. (KGTV) - A video of kids from around the country giving thanks to emergency workers during coronavirus has gone viral in a way that its creator never imagined."I really think that when given the opportunity, the kids stepped up to the plate," says Sarah Hunter, a teacher at Sage Creek High School.She saw other people posting pictures of their kids with signs of gratitude and thought her kids could do something similar. "My three drew little pictures. They sat down and recorded what they had drawn and gave their little messages."Before posting that, she asked friends and family on Facebook to do the same with their kids. Certain grocery stores are opening DSW, Designer Shoe Warehouse, shop-in-shops.Hy-Vee announced the partnership this week, saying two of their locations in the Twin Cities area have DSW displays inside with four more locations scheduled to open in the next few weeks.The DSW shop-in-shops will allow customers to try on shoes, selecting from a variety of styles and brands. Some stores will have lockers, allowing customers to order shoes online and pick them up in Hy-Vee stores.The shop-in-shop set-ups feature a wall of 100 shoes displaying top trends of the season.
