SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — Local and federal authorities raided four San Diego County homes Wednesday as part of a money laundering investigation.Agents served one of those warrants at an El Cajon home at about 7 a.m., according to neighbors. Agents could be seen removing several items from the property. 10News observed agents searching through the first and second floors of the home. Neighbors told 10News agents made requests over a speaker for the home's residents to exit the property. Neighbors added that eventually, the announcements stopped and they heard what they described as a small explosion, before agents entered the home in tactical gear.RELATED: Ex-Wells Fargo banker indicted for money laundering appears in courtLauren Mack, with the Department of Homeland Security, told 10News the raid was one of five instances in which agents served search warrants as part of an investigation into a suspected money laundering conspiracy. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — In San Diego Comic-Con's first foray as an online-only event, fans experienced some benefits and pitfalls of a virtual convention. While fans had arguably the most access to Comic-Con content ever, there were still some aspects that couldn't be recreated digitally. At the same time, that's all right. Fans afraid there would be no convention whatsoever still got to enjoy the annual pop-culture celebration. With that said, there are some things fans may like to see again even at an in-person convention — or hope to avoid.RELATED:Videos and Special FX: Perks of San Diego Comic-Con going virtualPHOTOS: Best cosplay from San Diego Comic-ConSan Diego's hospitality industry suffers from Comic-Con@HomeWhat worked: PanelsFor the first time in Comic-Con history, every attendee had the opportunity to see any of SDCC's hundreds of panels. No waiting in Hall H's line. No attending an earlier panel to save a seat for a later event. Every panel was streamed on Comic-Con's website and most were made available on YouTube afterward for fans to catch. Exclusive content aired during panels also made their way onto the internet arguably faster than previous years. While the glitz of seeing stars, artists, and writers in person was missing, the heart of enjoying a panel for its presentation was still there. What didn't: ExclusivesAdmittedly, Comic-Con isn't just about exclusive merchandise. But many attendees enjoy being able to score gear that you'll only get at SDCC — for resale or to keep. However, when it came to exclusives, internet connection and website servers were at the will of how many people logged onto their site. So when something was highly sought after, websites saw a lot of traffic — sometimes too much. In the case of several popular merchandisers — like Funko, Mondo, or Hasbro — exclusives often sold out quickly, sometimes before the convention even occurred. What worked: "Off-site" experiencesOff-site experiences outside the convention center have become as much of Comic-Con as the exhibit hall inside the center. With the convention online, some exhibitors took the opportunity to host some unique games and activities on their own websites. FX Unlocked showcased its lineup of FX shows with games, trivia, and digital extras, while Amazon held its own virtual con to showcase its products and Amazon Prime shows. FutureTechLive! also put together a virtual World Builders activation for users to unleash their imagination. What didn't: CosplayOne of the best parts of Comic-Con is seeing everyone dressed up as their favorite characters waltzing around downtown San Diego. Where else can you run into Kirk and Spock or Batman enjoying a bite to eat in broad daylight? While the convention did its best to showcase cosplayers online with a "masquerade ball" via Tumblr, it just isn't quite the same as being at the event in-person. What worked: Connecting with fansHosting Comic-Con online ensured fans can connect with their favorite comic book writers, artists, and even entertainers. Without having to manage a tight schedule of going location to location for panels and events, users could simply log on and watch a panel, win some free swag in some cases, or reach out to comic book writers and artists for commissions or to purchase their work. No walking through a packed Artist Alley or standing in line for a free t-shirt — though some may argue that's part of the appeal. What didn't: Recreating being thereSDCC made several activities available online ahead of the convention, like signs and badges to print out to dress your home for the event. A virtual exhibit floor was also offered online and while fun, was a bit tricky to navigate on your phone. Though it was great to offer those activities for fans, nothing can really recreate that feeling of walking through the halls of the convention center or visiting your favorite comic book artists. 3915

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - It looks like a mini farmer's market: fresh fruits, vegetables, herbs, even flowers. All of it coming from home gardens like Rosemary McElroy's. She and her fiancé Kevin Rookey love having fresh produce in their own backyard but, "we realized everyone has way more produce when you grow it than you can actually consume."The couple posted on the Nextdoor App, thinking maybe other neighbors wanted to trade.RELATED: Making It in San Diego: Reverse meal planning saves woman hundreds on grocery billThe response was so overwhelming, McElroy decided to organize a meet-up."This is around Lake Murray, let's host it at Lake Murray, we'll call it Lake Murray Produce just to give it a name," said McElroy. So far they've done three swaps, once a month for about an hour. Each time more and more people show up, able to walk away with organic produce for free and make sure nothing goes to waste.RELATED: Ocean Beach duo cook up 'foodie' meals on a day budget"When you have 500 oranges on a tree and you're not eating THem you feel guilt, right? SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - In recent weeks colorful bikes have filled the streets of San Diego. Dockless bike ridesharing companies were ready to go once the City Attorney's Office said they could operate. The city says LimeBike, Ofo, Mobike and Bird Scooter all have the proper licenses to operate here.LimeBike says in just two weeks they've logged 30,000 rides. The San Diego Bike Coalition supports the companies and believes the accessibility and affordability will help the city in its climate action plan. However, some residents have major concerns with the bikes, reporting that they're being left in the middle of sidewalks and on people's property. They've also witnessed scooter riders not wearing a helmet and people riding where they're not supposed to.Zack Bartlett, the general manager for LimeBike in San Diego, says they have an operations team patrolling the city 24/7 to run safety checks and reposition bikes improperly parked. He says they've invested heavily in education, safety and parking campaigns to help everyone enjoy the bikes and scooters responsibly. One of the safety videos can be viewed here.San Diego Police say because the dockless bikes and scooters are so new they don't have a way to track citations issued to individuals riding them or parking them improperly.  1316

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - In preparation for one of the most advanced fighter jets in the world, Marine Corps Air Station Miramar is planning security upgrades to its airfield perimeter fence.10News discovered it’s one of nine large-scale construction projects that Miramar will be doing over the next decade."These construction projects here are what enables, that is what brings our national defense policy and strategy to reality," said Public Works Officer Lt. Commander Travis Brinkman.Currently being built in the heart of MCAS Miramar is a 160,000 square foot hangar is designed to hold up to 12 F-35s.It's the first of three hangars planned for the location."The need to provide modern facilities as well as the F-35 has specific requirements, specific systems that need different maintenance, different capabilities within the facility itself to provide that maintenance,” said Brinkman. According to a post on the Federal Business Opportunities website, MCAS Miramar is also looking to replace more than 24,000 feet of existing chain link fence, vehicle gates, and swing arm barriers.According to the site, “The project magnitude is ,000,000 to ,000,000.”"We're upgrading the fence line around the airfield itself, and it’s simply to ensure that our fence line is complying with the security requirements for the F-35,” said Brinkman. "This brings Miramar, puts it on the forefront of national defense and national defense strategy,” said MCAS Miramar Director of Communications Capt. Matthew Gregory.According to officials, the Marine Corps will eventually transition its entire tactical air fleet to F-35 to include three legacy platforms: the AV-8B Harrier, the F/A-18 Hornet, and the EA-6B Prowler. They tell us the aircraft combines next-generation fighter characteristics of radar-evading stealth, supersonic speed, fighter agility, and advanced logistical support. It also has a different sound, one anyone nearby will notice."Once they get out here to California, most notable to the community, one you're going to see a different plane flying but two its going to sound a little different,” said Gregory. “It's not necessarily louder than the F-18’s, but it's got a different pitch because it's got a different engine on it.”The price tag for all the projects scheduled in the next decade is around half a billion dollars.Military officials believe it will save money in the long run and offer a longer lifespan. The hangar should be ready to receive the new aircraft around January 2020. 2510
