Interim security clearances for White House aides, including Jared Kushner, were downgraded last week after chief of staff John Kelly stipulated new changes to how officials access the nation's secrets, according to sources familiar with the matter.Aides who previously operated on "top secret" interim clearances saw their access changed to "secret," a classification for less sensitive material. In a February 16 memo, Kelly stated that White House officials who have been operating on interim clearances since last June would have their temporary clearances discontinued. That included Kushner, the President's son-in-law and senior adviser. Asked on Friday whether he would grant Kushner an exemption from the new mandate, Trump said it would be Kelly's decision. The White House has refused to detail the status of Kushner's clearance.Kushner is accepting the decision about his security clearance and "will not ask for special permission" from the President, one person familiar with situation says.Politico first reported the security clearance downgrade."He is a valued member of the team and will continue to do the important work he has been doing since he started in the administration," press secretary Sarah Sanders said on Tuesday. After the memo's release, White House officials worked to identify a way for Kushner to continue working on his portfolio of issues -- including on the Middle East and China -- that would avoid forcing Trump to personally intervene.Officials have expressed worry that Trump's personal involvement could create problems within the West Wing and with Kelly.The-CNN-Wire? & ? 2018 Cable News Network, Inc., a Time Warner Company. INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. — This year has been especially hard on local musicians, who typically rely on gigs in restaurants and clubs to make ends meet. But for the past nine months the pandemic has kept that from happening.Everybody is taking a financial hit this year whether it's a music venue, music artist, even people on the audio/video side of things," said Jake Huber. Before the pandemic, local film maker Jake Huber and live venue owner Mike Angel launched the web TV series called 'Music in Transit' a way to highlight the Circle City's musicians as they perform live shows on IndyGo buses and bus stops."It's really that simple. We put bands on a bus and when it allows for it an audience too," said Angel.Season one was all about surprising new audiences. "You stop in your own tracks and you're like oh, what is this I'm experiencing right now? After a while every single act we had formed a crowd, and through that many acts have reached out to us saying thank you because I've gained a new audience. I've had people buy our record, just from these videos," Huber said.Season Two of Music in Transit will look a bit different. The mobile shows are socially distanced this time around, with a limited crowd. Huber and Angel are hoping season two will allow the world to still see Indianapolis musicians of multiple genre's, who, thanks to pandemic restrictions, could use all the exposure they can get."Hip hop, old country, indie rock, funk. Everything really. If we promote this properly, we could get a pretty broad reach for them and hopefully drive up their album sales a little bit," said Angel.Season two of Music in Transit will premier this month on YouTube -- that's also where you can catch up on the first season. This story was first reported by Cameron Ridle at WRTV in Indianapolis, Indiana. 1820

It's official: Black Friday and Cyber Monday are still shopping bonanzas for retailers.Mastercard estimated sales on Black Friday hit billion, surging 9 percent from last year. Cyber Monday may have seen as much as a 19 percent increase from last year, Adobe Analytics predicted. (The final numbers are not yet out.)Although it will take several weeks for the dust to settle, traditional players have emerged as early winners in the holiday shake out. Traffic at Walmart, Target, Best Buy, and Kohl's was strong on Black Friday and into the weekend, analysts say.Black Friday and Cyber Monday were Amazon's biggest shopping days in its history. Customers bought more than 180 million items from Thanksgiving to Cyber Monday, the company said. The early results signal that retailers got a lift from a strong economy, convenient new ways to spend, and the demise of former rivals. All five companies' stock prices rose on Monday, reflecting investor optimism for the holidays.Although fewer shoppers turned out at brick-and-mortar stores, more bought on online and on their smartphones.Overall, traffic to physical stores dipped 1% on Thanksgiving and Black Friday compared to 2017, according to ShopperTrak, a retail consultancy that monitors in-store traffic. Digital analytics firm RetailNext said traffic declined 6.6% during the four-day weekend compared to a year ago."This was a great Black Friday. Consumers came out in droves and retailers stepped up efforts around inventory and servicing," said Marshal Cohen, chief industry adviser at NPD Group. 1578

In his opening monologue, Academy Awards host Jimmy Kimmel encouraged award recipients to discuss social issues, thank family members and give words of encouragement during acceptance speeches, but Kimmel announced there is an incentive to keep speeches short:A Brand New Jet Ski! Retail value: ,999.To the tune of the Price is Right theme, Kimmel showed off the brand new jet ski on the Oscars' stage. When Sam Rockwell took the stage to win Best Actor in a Supporting Role, he said he would keep his speech short in an effort to win the jet ski.“Why waste precious time thanking your mom when you could take her” on a jet ski ride, Kimmel said.During his monologue, Kimmel was not afraid to get political, and acknowledged some of Hollywood's recent shortcomings. Kimmel discussed the Me Too movement, and the importance of the academy of expelling Harvey Weinstein following sexual misconduct revelations were reported. “The world is watching us. We need to set an example,” he said. “The truth is if we are successful, women will only have to deal with harassment all the time every other place they go.”Kimmel also pointed out Hollywood's liberal slant."We don't make films like 'Call Me By Your Name' for money. We make them to upset Mike Pence," he said. While Kimmel only delivered a few overly political jokes, he opted to make a flub fom last year's Academy Awards when the wrong film was announced as Best Picture a central theme of his monologue on Sunday. “What happened last year was unfortunate,” Kimmel said, “I said, ‘No, I don’t want to do comedy with the accountants.’ And then the accountants went and did comedy on their own.” 1693
