PALA MESA, Calif. (KGTV) -- A 5-year-old boy critically injured in Saturday’s deadly bus crash was airlifted to a Riverside County hospital Sunday, authorities said. The young boy was airlifted from Inland Valley Medical Center to the Riverside University Health System Medical Center in Moreno Valley to be treated for a head injury, California Highway Patrol Officer Mark Latulippe said. The boy was among 21 passengers on a charter bus traveling to Tijuana from El Monte. The crash happened on Interstate 15 south of State Route 76. Three women were killed in the crash that left 18 others hospitalized. Five of those injured were taken to Palomar Medical Center in Escondido, five to Inland Valley Medical Center in Wildomar and eight to Temecula Valley Hospital, Latulippe said. RELATED: At least three dead, 18 injured in bus rollover on Interstate 15Three passengers suffered major injuries, Latulippe said, and officials were determining the other injured patients' conditions Sunday morning.The crash happened around 10:30 a.m. Saturday when the charter bus owned by Executive Lines Inc. slid off the 15 during heavy rain. The bus then continued down an embankment before landing on its roof, ejecting several passengers. A vehicle inspection report dated November 5, 2019, shows that, as of that date, the windshield wipers were either inoperative or defective. The same report shows that the vehicle had no spare fuses “as required.” A second report of the bus line revealed that 48 percent of vehicles in that particular safety group have better on-road performance. PAGE, Ariz. – A man died Sunday after authorities say he fell off a cliff overlooking the Colorado River in Arizona.The National Park Service (NPS) says 25-year-old Orlando Serrano-Arzola of Phoenix fell at the Glen Canyon Dam Overlook around 9 a.m. The overlook is located in the Glen Canyon National Recreation Area near Page.Witnesses told NPS that the victim was taking pictures on top of the rim overlooking the river when he fell about 100 feet and then slid about 150 more feet.Serrano-Arzola suffered severe trauma and showed no signs of life after the fall, according to NPS.A Coconino County sheriff’s deputy rappelled to the victim at 9:27 a.m. and confirmed the victim was deceased. The body was then transported to a medical examiner’s office in Flagstaff for an autopsy.While recovering the body, NPS says officers discovered bones at the base of the overlook that have been determined to be human remains. Officials didn't provide further information about the bones.Serrano-Arzola’s death and the discovery of the remains are under investigation by the National Park Service, the Coconino County Sheriff’s Office, and the Coconino County Medical Examiner. 1179

Paris police said they have arrested a man suspected of a knife attack that wounded at least two people near the former offices of satirical newspaper Charlie Hebdo. PHOENIX, Ariz. -- Whether you're a cat person or a dog person, this story is sure to warm your heart. It has a sad start, but a heartwarming end.The Sunshine Dog Rescue based out of Phoenix rescued a dog they have named "Georgia", an Australian Shephard Mix, found living at a gas station near the US-Mexico border, by Rocky Point.They quickly learned Georgia was pregnant. Sadly, none of Georgia's puppies survived. They were all born prematurely. Anita Osa, founder of Sunshine Dog Rescue, says Georgia was heartbroken after losing all of her babies."I've never had a mom dog lose a whole litter before. The best way I could describe it was she was frantic. It was so sad, she was looking for those babies. She tore up the toddler mattress we had her on, trying to find her babies," said Osa.Hoping to start Georgia down the path of healing, Osa put out a call for help on Facebook, looking for any animals that needed a lactating mother dog. What she ended up with was a trio of newly orphaned kittens, who also needed a mother.Osa said she initially wondered if a dog would accept kittens as her babies, but she was surprised to see the instant bond they formed."I introduced them to her gently. I first bought one out and let her sniff it, and she seemed to accept it, so I brought the others out. It's amazing to see how she instantly calmed down," said Osa."I think for the kittens, they have no idea that Georgia is a dog," she added.Georgia is even allowing her new kitten kids to nurse on her, although her milk production is low."They do nurse on her. She cleans them and everything but the bond is strong. It's really something to see, she protects those kittens just as if they were her babies," said Osa. 1726

(KGTV) - A Girl Scout troop fundraiser is ruffling a few feathers in Point Loma, over a name that some people think is too risque for the girls.Troop 4920 started the "Get Flocked" project this spring, offering to cover people's yards in plastic flamingos for a donation."We took our name from the "Got Milk" campaign," says Troop Leader Cam Bowman. "So we were like, hey, let's do "Got Flocked?" Then we turned it to the present tense, 'Get Flocked.' "Bowman says someone complained to the local Girl Scout council that the name sounds too much like a profanity. She was surprised when she learned of the complaint."You know, I think that happens with everything in life," she says. "We're always going to have controversy. We have controversy when we sell cookies!"For their part, the scouts say they don't think the name has anything to do with a dirty word. They're having too much fun planting flamingos to think about that."You get in and get out," says Scout Elyse Bonar. "You don't want people to see you. That's kind of the whole point, be like ninjas."The girls ask for a donation to "flock" somebody's yard within their Troop's zip code boundaries. They'll also remove the flamingos if requested.They're trying to raise money to attend the annual ceremony in San Francisco where thousands of Junior Scouts walk across the Golden Gate Bridge together as they get promoted to Cadet Scouts. It's a symbolic coming of age moment for the girls.Elyse says working to raise the money for the trip, even with a fun flamingo project, has taught her a valuable life lesson."It's taught me how if you want to get something, don't quit, keep going and try your hardest to get your goal," she says.The "Get Flocked" project is one of several that Troop 4920 do over the year. The money they raise from cookie sales goes to local charities. They're also collecting used markers to send to Crayola for recycling.As for the controversy over the name, Bowman says the Girl Scout leaders left it up to her and the Troop to decide what to do. They chose to keep the project going forward, with the same name."We have to put those decisions back on the girls," she says. "Money-earning projects are hard. Cookie sales are hard.
