A new vegetation team is on the job in Long Island, New York. The "kids" are hard at work cleaning overgrown weeds and brush."They eat everything. They eat poison ivy and don't get sick," said Doreen Pennica with Old Bethpage Restoration Village. The six, four-legged weed eaters can consume about four pounds of vegetation a day. And goats don't leave behind harmful chemicals like herbicides that can seep into the ground. So, how are the goats doing?"The work is probably an 'A'. But then you have to factor in their behavior, so I would bring it down to a 'B' because sometimes they can be a little troublesome," said Peter Barbato, farms supervisor, before quickly adding, "I'm just kidding. Give them an 'A'."This story originally reported by Keith Lopez on pix11.com. 782

A San Diego teenager will use her family's Spring Break trip to Washington, D.C., to advocate for stronger gun control laws.Faith Campbell, a Sophomore at Frances Parker School in Linda Vista, already has a meeting set up with Representative Susan Davis to discuss gun reform. She also has a stack of hand written letters from herself and her classmates to deliver to other area Congressmen and women."A letter is really powerful," Campbell says. "It shows that someone took the time out of their day to write specifically to this person."Campbell says she wrote a letter to Representative Davis after the shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in February. Rep. Davis wrote back asking is she would like to meet.Campbell took part in last month's March for Our Lives in San Diego, joining thousands of others to call for stricter gun control laws. But she says she doesn't want the momentum to stall now that the protests and marches are over. Now, Campbell is inviting all of her classmates and fellow teens to write letters. She says she'll deliver them while she's in DC."It doesn't really matter how many letters I get," she says. "It's just the fact that people are writing."She says she'll take any letter written by a teen if they can get it to her by this Friday, April 13th. The letters can be dropped at her father Richard Campbell's office, Procopio Law Firm, at:525 B. Street, Suite 2200San Diego, CA 92101  1452

A pharmacist was arrested for allegedly luring an Indiana woman to his Colorado home and then drugging and sexually assaulting her multiple times, according to a release from the Teller County Sheriff’s Office. And investigators believe there are more victims who have yet to come forward.Brent Stein, 46, was a pharmacist with Mountain Key Pharmacy in Florissant, Colorado, about 2 hours southwest of Denver. His pharmacy license was suspended this week as he was booked on three counts of sexual assault, but has since bonded out of the Teller County Detention Facility. The investigation into the allegations against Stein began on June 18, when Teller County detectives received information there was a sexual assault victim at a hospital in Colorado Springs, the sheriff’s office said. The victim told investigators that she had met Stein on a dating website and that the suspect had made promises to heal her medical conditions and that he was a pharmacist, the Teller County release read. The victim traveled from Indiana to Stein’s home, and during her stay, she claims she was given un-prescribed medication by Stein, which resulted in her being incapacitated. Investigators allege the victim was sexually assaulted multiple times by Stein while the victim was under the influence of the unknown medication.Upon further investigation, other victims have come forward to report unwanted sexual conduct by Stein, the sheriff’s office said. Detectives believe there might be other victims and are asking anyone who knows anything about this case or may be an additional victim to come forward. A proposal to extend ,200 stimulus checks to most Americans failed on Friday after Sen. Ron Johnson, R-Wisconsin, objected to the motion.Sen. Josh Hawley, R-Missouri, proposed fast tracking legislation to extend ,200 stimulus checks to the same group of Americans that received a previous check earlier in the year. Senators can fast track bills as long as no Senators object.“Let's send a message to working families that they are first, not last. They are the most important consideration, not some afterthought,” Hawley said.Johnson cited excessive spending by the government for the reason for his objection.“My comments here are really not directed specifically at the senator from Missouri’s proposal because he makes many good points,” Johnson said. “We do have working men and women. We have households that once again, through no fault of their own, are struggling, and we need to provide financial support. I think my comments are in some respect more general from the standpoint of how we've done that. And as I have explained to my colleagues in conference, by and large, the initial relief packages here were a shotgun approach.”Both parties have been working on economic relief for months, but have failed to come to any sort of compromise. After weeks of considering a bipartisan proposal that did not include stimulus checks, support has gathered for sending 0 checks to Americans. Both Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell and House Speaker Nancy Pelosi has vowed to keep legislators in Washington until a pandemic relief bill is passed. Two weeks ago, a bipartisan group of legislators proposed a 0 billion stimulus plan that would extend funds for additional unemployment benefits for up to 18 weeks per worker. The legislation also would replenish funds for the Paycheck Protection Program, which helped companies affected by the pandemic make payroll. There would also be 0 billion earmarked for state and local governments, which have seen a drop in tax revenue due to the pandemic. There is in additional billion allocated toward the transportation industry, most notably for airlines, which have seen an over 50% reduction in business since March. 2195
