POWAY, Calif., (KGTV) — Six days after the City of Poway issued a Boil Water Order, some restaurants are reopening, after getting special permits from the Health Department. On her first day back to work, a server at Mainstream Bar & Grill got the surprise of a lifetime when she received a ,000 tip from a regular customer. It's been a while since hungry customers walked into the Mainstream Bar & Grill. Six days after receiving Poway's food facility closure notice, Mainstream is one of a few restaurants that are reopened. Mandated by the Health Department, they now have a modified eight-item menu with ingredients not prepared on-site, a boiled water hand-washing station, and disposable cups and utensils. "Employees, we want them to get back to work as quickly as possible. Especially this time of year."It's a time when a lack of cash could be the difference between holiday cheer and holiday drear. "You do really want to budget," server Sarah Klein said. "You really want to figure out what you want to do for the holiday or how you are going to spend your money, so that was scary."Klein, a six-year veteran server, was out of a job for five days. But Thursday morning, she was back on her feet. She greeted and served her regulars without a hitch. She even chatted with one of them about how the water outage was affecting her family. Klein said. At first, she did not want to accept it. But she said the donor insisted that she take it. "Poway is like a family. And they come together in times of need, and it's definitely one of those times," Harvey said. You know, just spend it on my son's birthday, it's this month. And the holidays. So now there is so much more we can do. So I'm just really proud to be in Poway," Klein said.Klein said the donor is also a Poway resident, going through the same water crisis, which is why this gift is even more precious. The City of Poway said they are working to restore the water by Friday. 2505
President Donald Trump said Friday that he didn't "remember much" about the now controversial March 2016 meeting with his foreign policy advisers, including George Papadopoulos. In the clearest connection between the campaign and Russian efforts to meddle in the 2016 election, Papadopoulos pleaded guilty to lying to the FBI about interactions with foreign officials close to the Russian government, according to court documents unsealed this week."I don't remember much about that meeting," Trump said on the South Lawn before leaving for his five-country, 12-day trip in Asia. "It was a very unimportant meeting, took place a long time, don't remember much about it." 677

Woodward is publishing a book about Trump later this month. The Washington Post also confirmed that Woodward's book contains reporting about Trump downplaying the severity of the virus.According to the audio files published by CNN, Trump told Woodward on Feb. 7 that the coronavirus was reported to have airborne transmission and that COVID-19 was more deadly than a "strenuous flu." 772
President Donald Trump has nominated Amy Coney Barrett as his choice to become the next Associate Justice to the Supreme Court. This is the third vacancy while Trump has been president.Trump’s announcement Saturday is eight days after the death of Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg. Trump reflected on Ginsburg's passing, saying the country “mourned the loss of a true American legend. She was a legal giant and a pioneer for women.”Barrett also spoke about Ginsburg and her legacy for women in the legal profession and all Americans. She clerked for Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia in 1998 and 1999. Scalia and Ginsburg had a close friendship, despite their strong legal disagreements. Barrett talked about their relationship as a role model for being able to disagree on matters of law, while not attacking colleagues or getting personal.Like Scalia, she is a committed Roman Catholic as well as a firm devotee of his favored interpretation of the Constitution known as originalism.“Amy Coney Barrett will decide cases based on the constitution as written," President Trump said of his nominee. “A judge must apply the law as written. Judges are not policy makers," Barrett said during Saturday's nomination event. Her legal writings and speeches show a commitment to originalism, a concept that involves justices endeavoring to decipher original meanings of texts in assessing whether someone’s rights have been violated. Many liberals say that approach is too rigid and doesn’t allow the Constitution’s consequences to adjust to vastly changing times.President Trump called on lawmakers to begin hearings to confirm Barrett, saying it should be a "straightforward and prompt" process. He called Barrett a "woman of unparalleled achievement” and "very eminently qualified for the job."Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell says the Senate will vote "in the weeks ahead" on Barrett's nomination, according to the Associated Press. Meanwhile, former vice president and Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden released a statement Saturday calling on senators to wait until after the election to vote on the nomination of a new Supreme Court justice. "The Senate should not act on this vacancy until after the American people select their next president and the next Congress," Biden's statement reads. Barrett was previously confirmed to the Seventh Circuit Court of Appeals in 2017, and at the time, her confirmation was supported by three democrats: Joe Donnelly, Tim Kaine and Joe Manchin.Barrett has seven children, including two adopted from Haiti. Her husband, Jesse, and children were at the White House for Saturday's nomination ceremony.Watch Saturday's event live on Facebook. 2696
PORT RICHEY, Florida — A toy that’s already on Christmas wish lists led to an x-rated surprise for a Florida family. "It’s extremely popular, you almost can’t find them on the shelves,” Shari Leveille said. Inside the colorful Poopsie Slime Surprise case is a poopsie keychain, container and ingredients to make sparkly slime. "My daughter, my sons, they all play with these toys,” John Corbett said. After Leveille and Corbett bought one from Target last week, they found a detail meant for adults only — a phone number printed on the milk carton that came with the collectible Bessi Cowpie. The number connects you straight to a sex line. “Want me to send you a sexy pic of me?” the message says in part. WFTS television station blurred the number because of its inappropriate nature.“It’s very disturbing,” Corbett said. They’re even more concerned about kids dialing it. We dialed the number too and got the same result."Maybe they call, maybe they wouldn’t but if they did all they have to do is press a couple buttons and it sent directly to their phone,” said Leveille. We reached out to the toy maker, MGA Entertainment. It’s the same company that makes LOL surprise dolls. Officials there tell us they’re working to remove the number from the product: 1332
