SAN FRANCISCO (AP) -- A young mountain lion that was spotted looking at his reflection in the glass of an office tower in downtown San Francisco was safely captured Thursday and released into the wild.The disoriented animal roamed the streets of the city for two days until he was spotted by a police officer near Oracle Park, home of the San Francisco Giants.The mountain lion was first seen Tuesday by a motorist in a neighborhood known for the famously crooked Lombard Street. 487

For the first time since the COVID-19 pandemic forced a shutdown in mid-March, the zoo is back open. Visitors were happy to return to one of our city's jewels, even with some changes.For the last three months, visitors have been anxious to come to the grand reopening on Saturday."The turtles are kind of big and funny," laughed little Kitara. The grade-schooler celebrated her birthday two days ago, and Saturday was her first big outing since.The zoo has made some modifications to operations and guest rules:Face coverings are required for all guests over two years of agePeople must practice social distancingThere are limited dining and shopping, overall reduced park hoursOperating at 50% guest capacityLimited guest parkingMembers and guests will not be allowed to leave the parks and re-enter on the same dayOne-way path adjustments, plexi-glass, and barriers to help guests navigate safelyIncreased number of hand-washing and sanitizing locationsRobust cleaning routineThroughout the park, staff members will guide people to move along to discourage crowding."I think they help people maintain social distancing really well," pass holder, Valerie Warren said. SAN FRANCISCO — Verizon is joining an escalating movement to siphon advertising away from Facebook in an effort to pressure the company into doing more to prevent racist and violent information from being shared on its social networking service.The decision announced Thursday by one of the world's biggest telecommunications companies is part of a boycott organized by civil rights and other advocacy groups under the rallying cry of "#StopHateforProfit."The NAACP and the ADL are among the organizations behind the movement.The protest was spurred by last month's killing of George Floyd by Minneapolis police.Facebook says it is in talks with the boycott organizers in an effort to become a "force for good."Verizon is by far the largest company to join the movement. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - San Diego Police say a man was stabbed by his ex-girlfriend in a home on 3500 block of Adams Avenue just before 2:45 p.m. Sunday.A witness said she saw the man hobbling after the ex-girlfriend as she drove off. The witness followed the car long enough to get the license plate number.The man was bleeding from the right thigh.Police say neighbors jumped in to help the man, before he was transported to the hospital. Police say he is in stable condition.The ex-girlfriend returned to the scene and was arrested. Police say another man was arrested, who was involved with the ex-girlfriend.Adams Avenue westbound at 36th Street is shut down, and may reopen around 6 p.m., according to police. 728
