(CNS) - Twin brothers popular on YouTube for videos featuring pranks were charged Wednesday with masquerading as bank robbers, prompting emergency calls to Irvine police.Alan and Alex Stokes of Irvine, both 23, were each charged with a felony count of false imprisonment and a misdemeanor count of false reporting an emergency.The two are accused of pulling off the pranks with a videographer on Oct. 15.At about 2:30 p.m. that day, the twins dressed in black with ski masks and carried duffle bags stuffed with cash, masquerading as bank robbers, according to Kimberly Edds, a spokeswoman for the Orange County District Attorney's Office.With the camera operator in tow, they called for an Uber ride, but the driver refused service, Edds said.A witness believing the pair had robbed a bank and were carjacking the Uber driver called the police, Edds said. Responding officers ordered the driver out at gunpoint, but when they eventually sorted out what happened they let the brothers go with a warning, Edds said.Four hours later, the twins did the same thing on campus at UC Irvine, which prompted emergency calls again, Edds said.A court date has not yet been scheduled and it was unknown if the duo had legal representation. 1254

The judge called them “a politically motivated attack on the efficiency of the Postal Service” before the November election. SANTEE. Calif. (KGTV) - Two dogs have died after a fire broke out in an East County home.The fire broke out at a home on Big Rock Road and Rancho Fanita Drive just before 2 p.m. Wednesday. The fire started in the home's kitchen, according to Santee Fire Department crews.Neighbors said they first saw smoke and though the fire was in a large field behind the home, before realizing it was in a corner of the house.One neighbor reportedly ran over and called the home's owner, who was not home but told the neighbor her dogs were inside. The neighbor broke a window out and tried to get into the home to save the dogs but was pushed back because of the thick smoke.Santee Fire arrived and broke into the back of the home to put out the blaze. Crews found the dogs and performed CPR and gave them oxygen but they had already died.Crews said the neighbor was right not to enter the home if the smoke was as bad as described. The cause of the fire is under investigation.The owner of the home reportedly lives there with her daughter and son-in-law. 1073

(KGTV) - Customs and Border Protection closed three lanes of traffic heading into the United States from Mexico Tuesday morning.In a statement, CBP said it was “to install and pre-position port hardening infrastructure equipment in preparation for the migrant caravan.”One lane of traffic was also closed at the Otay Mesa port of entry.It comes as active-duty troops have been working to add barricades and fencing as part of “Operation Secure Line.”On Tuesday, troops could be seen moving barriers covered with barbed wire along the border, periodically closing the southbound lanes into Mexico.In their statement, CBP officials warned “persons traveling northbound to the U.S. anticipate possible increased wait times because of the lane closures.”Even before the lanes were closed, wait times of six to seven hours had been reported at peak times in the standard lanes. Part of that was due to traffic control by authorities on the Mexican side.Travel as a pedestrian, however, has not appeared to be affected.Rebecca Fodor walked across Tuesday night and said it only took a few minutes. She said she did notice armed troops in camouflage uniforms.“It didn’t really change anything. I think they were just watching for anything suspicious,” she said.The lane closures will remain in effect indefinitely. CBP says reopening “is not anticipated to take place until sometime after people in the caravan arrive to the border.”  1469
