Deputies arrested a Palm Beach County bookkeeper Saturday on accusations of stealing money from her employer to pay for a new vehicle.Erma Rios, 26, of suburban West Palm Beach, wrote and signed company checks to purchase a Land Rover from a dealership, according to a Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office report.Rios’ boss reported more than ,000 missing from the bank account of his Palm Beach Gardens business in January 2017.Bank records show Rios, a bookkeeper at the business, allegedly wrote out two checks to a used car dealership in December 2016.The first check written out by Rios was a ,000 down payment addressed to the used car dealership for a 2011 Land Rover, an arrest report states. The second check was written out a few weeks later as a final payment to the car dealership for ,000.Deputies interviewing a car salesman report him saying he sold the vehicle to Rios. He said she wrote and signed the checks, and then presented them to his as payment, he said in the report.Court records show a warrant for Rios arrest was signed in April 2017.One year later, she was arrested and booked into the Palm Beach County Jail. Despite pleas from federal and local leaders to stay home for the holidays and keep gatherings to household members, the TSA screened nearly 1.2 million travelers Wednesday, a record high during the pandemic.According to TSA reports, 1,191,123 people were screened at TSA checkpoints at the country’s airports on December 23. DENVER – The 19th Judicial District Attorney’s Office on Thursday released a massive cache of documents and interviews related to the Chris Watts case following open records requests.Watts pleaded guilty earlier this month to killing his pregnant wife Shanann Watts and their two young daughters at their home in Frederick, Colo. in August. He was sentenced to three consecutive life terms without the possibility of parole, after which prosecutors started releasing all the documents related to the case.Last week, prosecutors released thousands of pages of documents that contained interviews and information about the investigation, which showed more details about how Watts killed his family and hid their bodies and the deteriorating relationship between himself and Shanann. 793

DETROIT — A bond between two 12-year-old boys is now helping a Detroit mother in her grief. After surviving two bouts with cancer, little KJ Gross' time on earth was cut short by the side effects of treatment. Now, KJ's best friend is helping his mom get some closure. KJ had defeated cancer twice in his young life, his mom San Singleton said. He had been free of the disease for six years when he landed back in the hospital from congestive heart failure."We packed up and we moved into the hospital," Singleton said. "And everything that they did for KJ thinking it would give him a better quality of life, it did the opposite."KJ would not leave the hospital again, but found support in his best friend from school, 12-year-old Kaleb Klakulak. The boys both liked to play video games and paint. They were inseparable, and Kaleb's visits became a light in the darkness for KJ.  923
