NASA has unveiled its billion plan to send the first woman to the moon.On Monday, the agency said they hope to have a woman and man land on the moon in 2024.“With bipartisan support from Congress, our 21st-century push to the Moon is well within America’s reach,” said NASA Administrator Jim Bridenstine in the press release. “As we’ve solidified more of our exploration plans in recent months, we’ve continued to refine our budget and architecture. Multiple fire departments are fighting a massive house fire in Chandler early Thursday morning. An official at the scene near says the fire started around 3 a.m. local time in a second-story bedroom. Three residents of the multi-million-dollar property were able to get out safely, but they are now displaced.Video from the scene showed the blaze engulfing the home and huge smoke plumes billowing from the home. Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, has remained a major vacation destination amid a national pandemic this summer.In recent days, several officials have warned that travelers returning from the popular East Coast beach destination should quarantine themselves and get tested.Despite the warnings, Myrtle Beach officials say they’re open for business, but are asking visitors to vacation responsibly."We understand that people are ready to travel again following these difficult past few months, and excited that people are choosing the Grand Strand as the destination they want to visit," said Karen Riordan, president and CEO of Visit Myrtle Beach. "While it's time to get back to where we all belong, we must remain diligent in maintaining social distancing, wearing a face mask in public places, practicing healthy hygiene and following all of the guidelines established by healthcare professionals in order to keep everyone healthy while they enjoy the Myrtle Beach area."With a permanent residency of 34,000, Myrtle Beach welcomes an estimated 18 million visitors a year. NASHVILLE, Tennessee — Individuals convicted of a felony can't vote while incarcerated, on parole, or on probation in the State of Tennessee, and Terrancé Akins was one of those people — until this week.Akins will get to vote for the first time after serving 17 years in prison.When he was 17-years-old, Akins went to prison for especially aggravated robbery."I lost my family, I lost my freedom, and then I lost my right to vote," Akins said.He has started a non-profit called 'Blessed Incorporated' where he helps inner city kids stay out of trouble. It took four years, but now that he is on a steady path, he's excited to be able to vote for the first time. "It feels great. It feels wonderful," he said.In Tennessee, voting rights are restored when ex-felons complete their supervised release. Akins hopes his example will help encourage others to re-register to vote. "They give up on themselves, they give up on their lives, they figure that they can never really amount to anything, but that's not true. You have to believe in yourself and you have to believe that you matter and that your vote matter, and that's one thing that I did, I took the initiative to not just do this for me, but to do it for those that are coming behind me," said Akins.The voter registration deadline is on Tuesday, you can fill out a form online or sign up in person.Akins is now renting an apartment in Montgomery County. Early voting there starts Oct. 17 and runs through Nov. 1. Election Day is Tuesday, Nov. 6. 1575

NATIONAL CITY, Calif. (KGTV) -- A National City Police Officer has been placed on administrative leave for allegedly using racist and insensitive language during text conversations that surfaced online.The comments were reportedly made during a private text message conversation between the officer and a member of his family. The texts then surfaced on social media, the department said.The officer was not identified and the department did not elaborate on the content of the alleged comments.RELATED: Review board recommends de-escalation reforms to San Diego PoliceThe department said it, "takes misconduct allegations by any officer seriously and in no way condones this type of behavior."The unnamed officer was placed on leave and removed from police duties. We are extremely disappointed that we have to conduct an investigation into one of our officer’s alleged misconduct.
