(AP) — When it comes to the middle finger, police might need a thicker skin.A federal appeals court says a Michigan woman's constitutional rights were violated when she was handed a speeding ticket after giving the finger to a suburban Detroit officer in 2017. The decision means a lawsuit by Debra Cruise-Gulyas can proceed.In a 3-0 decision Wednesday, the court said Taylor Officer Matthew Minard "should have known better," even if the driver was rude.Minard stopped Cruise-Gulyas and wrote her a ticket for a lesser violation. But when that stop was over, Cruise-Gulyas raised her middle finger.Minard pulled her over again and changed the ticket to a more serious speeding offense.Cruise-Gulyas sued, saying her free-speech rights and her rights against unreasonable seizure were violated. 816

TEMECULA, Calif. (KGTV) - U.S. Border Patrol agents arrested a man Sunday on suspicion of smuggling more than 143 pounds of methamphetamine on Interstate 15 in Temecula. Agents pulled over the Ford F-150 near the Border Patrol checkpoint at 9:15 p.m. A K-9 unit alerted agents during an exterior search. A secondary inspection led to the discovery of 33 bundles of meth inside the wood paneling, officials said. The drugs had an estimated street value of 0,640. The driver, a 55-year-old U.S. citizen, was arrested at the scene. 539

TAMPA, Fla. -- A commercial about child hunger inspired Kennedy McCormick to take action when she just 7 years old.“I felt really bad for the children, so I wanted to do something to help,” said McCormick, now 14.For her birthday that year, she wanted to collect food instead of getting presents.“So we had a party and that’s exactly what happened. Everybody brought food,” said her father, Kelvin.Kennedy has carried on that tradition every year, teaming up with Feeding Tampa Bay to make sure the donations get to those in need.“The more I’ve done it. The more donations I’ve gotten over the years,” said Kennedy.This year with the pandemic, she held a virtual fundraiser, raising about ,000.All her hard work got noticed by General Mills and they surprised her with a donation like she’s never seen before: two truckloads of Cheerios. That’s 48,000 boxes.“I was extra surprised when I saw the truck drive by because I thought it was only going to be the cereal over there and then there was a truck. SYLMAR, LOS ANGELES (KGTV) -- Crews are battling a rapidly-spreading brush fire in northern Los Angeles County late Thursday night amid a statewide Red Flag Warnings.News station ABC7 is reporting that the 15-acre blaze, named Saddleridge Fire, is burning near homes and power lines.The fire erupted around 10 p.m. near the westbound 210 Freeway near Yarnell Street, according to the Los Angeles Fire Department.Flames stopped traffic along the 210 when the fire jumped from the westbound side to the eastbound side.
