(KGTV) - The search for a young East San Diego County man will be profiled this month by missing persons investigator John Walsh. Twenty-year-old Elijah Runningbear Diaz, a member of the Barona Tribe, was last seen Aug. 29, 2015 in El Cajon. His mother dropped him off at his home on Joey Lane about 10 p.m. Diaz’ mother reported him missing the next day - the day his cell phone was turned off. There was no further activity on his bank account or social media. RELATED: Family still searching for missing El Cajon man Officers found a 50-inch television had been removed from his bedroom along with his sheets and the contents of a safe. Diaz has type one diabetes and, at the time of his disappearance, had a serious foot injury that required him to use crutches. He also has a bear claw tattoo on his inner left forearm. El Cajon Police joined Diaz’ friends and relatives for a door-to-door search near his home in 2015. A 60-year-old man was shot and killed Tuesday morning in Tampa's Seminole Heights area, the fourth such death in what police say is a string of unsolved killings in that neighborhood within the past month."It is all in the probably 10-block, 15-block area," Tampa Mayor Bob Buckhorn told CNN sister network HLN on Tuesday. "And so we're just going to do our good police work and hopefully get a break."Ronald Felton was shot in the back while crossing the street just before 5 a.m. Tuesday, police said. He became the fourth victim in a string of killings that has vexed investigators who remain desperate for clues.A witness to the shooting provided a description of the suspect, Tampa police chief Brian Dugan said. "When I spoke to her, she said if our officer had been five seconds earlier, he would have been able to stop it," he said.Dugan described the suspect as a black male between 6 feet and 6 feet 2 inches with a thin build and a light complexion. He was wearing all black and a black baseball cap and armed with a large black pistol, police said. Police said they believe the suspect also lives in the same neighborhood as the shootings.Last month, police said that three seemingly random killings within 11 days in Seminole Heights were all linked. Benjamin Mitchell, 22, was shot and killed in front of his home October 9. Monica Hoffa, 32, was killed October 11. A city employee found her body two days afterward in a vacant parking lot half a mile from where Mitchell died.Anthony Naiboa, an autistic 20-year-old who had just graduated from high school, became the third victim when he accidentally got on the wrong bus and ended up in the neighborhood by mistake, police said.These three victims were all alone at the time of their deaths and were found within about a half-mile of each other.  1826

(KGTV) — More than 20,000 acres have been scorched in Riverside and San Bernardino Counties by the Apple Fire since Friday, prompting evacuation orders for thousands of residents.The fire had burned 26,450 acres and was 5% contained as of Monday at 7:48 a.m., according to Cal Fire.Officials say the blaze began as two separate fires on Friday in Cherry Valley, an unincorporated area near Beaumont in Riverside County, before exploding over the weekend and crossing into San Bernardino County.RELATED: Several San Diego County fire departments help fight growing Apple FireThe U.S. Forest Service says the majority of the area covering the northern and eastern edges of the fire is very steep and rugged, making it difficult for crews to access the area with vehicles. The agency added that a high pressure ridge on Sunday created hot and dry conditions, fueling the flames.Helicopters and fixed-wing air tankers were assisting ground crews and equipment in battling the fire.At least one home and two outbuildings have been destroyed by the fire and several more were threatened. (KGTV) — Recently released video shows a Florida deputy rushing to save a toddler left in a hot car overnight on Father's Day.Seminole County Sheriff's deputy Bill Dunn responded to a call for a stolen vehicle with a child possibly inside on June 17, 2018, in Sanford, Fla.Dunn arrived to find a 2005 Toyota Corolla with its windows rolled up. Inside was a young girl, visibly in and out of consciousness. She had been inside the car for roughly 12 hours, according to the Miami Herald.RELATED: Infant dies?after being left in hot car in Florida"Sadly I didn't think she was alive when I got to her," Dunn told Seminole County Sheriff's Office (SCSO). "I didn't feel a pulse."Video released this week shows Dunn rushing to his vehicle with the 3-year-old girl limp in his arms.When the deputy reached his vehicle and turned on the air conditioner, signs of life started to return to the girl."Once the cold air hit her, that's when I started noticing her eyes kind of fluttering," Dunn said.RELATED: 12 tips to prevent child deaths in hot carsAfter reaching the hospital, the girl was taken into trauma care. Three days later, the girl was able to leave the hospital.“I remember one thing distinctively,” he said. “Putting my hand on her chest and feeling her heart racing.
