A growing number of tech companies are making plans for their employees to keep working from home even after the pandemic.It's a move that could have an impact across the country for current employees and job seekers, beyond the typical tech hubs.“The tech sector is over-concentrated in a very short list of places – Seattle, the (San Francisco) Bay area, Boston – in a way that really is harmful to the tech industry but also harmful for the rest of the country,” said Mark Muro with the Metropolitan Policy Program – Brookings Institution. Muro has found that most regional economies in the United States are losing ground in tech and not seeing the kind of growth they've been promised. Facebook has said it will let many employees work from home permanently. It also plans to open up remote hiring for some roles and set up new hubs to support remote workers in Atlanta, Dallas and Denver.Twitter also says many of its employees will be allowed to work from home permanently. The Phoenix Police Department released video Wednesday of a frightening moment involving a red-light runner and a family crossing the street with a stroller.Police say the incident happened near 53rd Avenue and Indian School Road on October 14, around 10 p.m. Watch video of the incident in the player above.The family says Ulysses Betancourt, his wife Gabrielle and 1-year-old son Damian were on the way to the grocery store after riding the bus. Police say the driver who ran the red-light, 28-year-old Ernesto Otanez Oveso, was driving under the influence at the time. The driver with the right-of-way in the crash was injured, but the injuries were not life-threatening.After the crash, police say Oveso fled the scene along with a female passenger. Oveso allegedly told a witness that was following him to get away, and stabbed the car door of the witness. "He could've taken people's family members away, innocent people. Why would you do such a thing?" said Ulysses's sister, Abby Betancourt. "I'm so glad I'm going to see my brother. I love him and my sister-in-law." Oveso has been arrested and faces charges for DUI, aggravated assault and prohibited possession after a gun was found in his Jeep. The female passenger has not been located. 1263

A container filled with 90,000 bottles of vodka believed to be for sanctions-hit North Korea has been seized by Dutch customs agents, officials said Tuesday.Three-thousand cases of the spirit were found by officers at the port of Rotterdam aboard a ship owned by China's Cosco Shipping, said Roul Velleman, a spokesman for the Dutch customs agency.Velleman said officers decided to check the container based on a "risk profile" provided by the Foreign Ministry."We follow a risk profile and we had information that this container could be carrying something," Velleman said. "And it was right. The drug ketamine is used as an anesthetic, a pain reliever or even a club drug. But now, a ketamine-like drug could soon be approved by the FDA to help people fighting severe depression. Sally Owens is one patient undergoing ketamine treatment. “You feel secure in and grounded, even though you're in a dream state,” Owens says of the treatment. “And in an hour, you come out of it and you're feeling better.” The retired nurse started getting IV ketamine treatments after fighting depression with antidepressants for most of her adult life, with no success. But after two sessions at Vitalitas, a Denver ketamine infusion center, she saw results. “I was doing more things around the house and getting out and and doing more things with friends,” she says. Owens says she’s excited to hear the FDA is considering a more accessible, less potent nasal spray similar to ketamine. “You could essentially think of esketamine as half of ketamine,” describes Dr. Roman Langston, who treats patients with ketamine. Esketamine would be for people with severe depression who haven't benefited from at least two different therapies, the doctor says. 300 million people around the world are affected by severe depression. Drug makers hope the spray can help 30 to 40 percent of patients, who don't respond to antidepressants. Antidepressants can take weeks to take effect, while they say nasal spray benefits start after four hours. Dr. Langston says FDA approval could make more people comfortable using the drug, commonly known as a party drug. Right now, it's not covered by insurance. Sessions can range from 0 to 0 for a session. “If they qualify for coverage through their insurance company, maybe it's a copay, and they can give it a try and it could make a huge difference in their life,” he says.Dr. Langston says it remains to be seen what the long-term consequences of esketamine are. 1907
