SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- San Diego gyms are closing amid coronavirus, forcing residents to work out from home and sparking many tips on how to stay fit amid COVID-19. 24-Hour fitness, a popular San Diego gym, sent out a message Monday night noting that the gym would close March 16 until further notice. "As we all grapple with the enormous scale and impact of the coronavirus in the U.S., it reminds us of how precious life is and the importance of protecting our own health," CEO Tony Ueber said in a news release. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- San Diego Police are searching for two men believed to be involved in a robbery at San Diego State University Monday night. The robbery happened at 6:42 p.m. near the intersection of Lindeo Paseo and College Avenue. At this point it is unclear if the victim was a student or a community member. The victim told police they were pushed by one of the suspects while walking on the sidewalk. That same suspect then took their cell phone. Both men were last seen walking southbound on College Avenue. The victim described the suspects as follows:  601

Refrigerator and freezer doors should also be kept closed and all unnecessary lighting should be turned off, health and safety permitting.The company suggested customers also reduce their water use due to the need for electricity to pump and process water. For electric vehicle owners, charging should be delayed if possible until after the emergency shutoffs, SDG&E said.SDG&E offers more safety tips to keep in mind during an outage here.Friday marked the first time since 2011 that California has ordered rolling power outages.According to SDG&E, the Flex Alert until Monday night was issued earlier to warn people to conserve energy, but because there wasn't enough energy conserved the state decided to issue rolling outages.SDG&E added that San Diego County's backcountry and rural areas will not be affected in the foreseeable future because they are high fire risk areas. The report claims that America’s Finest City is the second most rent-burdened city in the nation. Miami took the top spot on the list, followed by San Diego, Los Angeles, New York and Orlando. The report also found that those who make minimum wage would have to work nearly 100 hours per week to be able to afford the median rent. To come up with the report, Freddie Mac looked at how other organizations measure affordability to assess the rent-burden issue. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - San Diego is celebrating 250 years of history in 2019 with special events planned to commemorate the anniversary. Mayor Kevin Faulconer announced efforts for the San Diego 250 initiative Tuesday at a news conference. The San Diego region has been Kumeyaay territory for thousands of years, but the San Diego we know today began on July 16, 1769, city officials said. “This year we mark a tremendous milestone – 250 years of history, culture and achievement,” Mayor Faulconer said. “San Diego is the place where California began, and we will reflect on our past, commemorate this moment in time and look forward to building a better future for all San Diegans in the next 250 years. I want to thank the many dedicated individuals and organizations that have come together to help celebrate this important anniversary and create opportunities to learn more about our history and heritage as a city and region.” A group of civic leaders, organizations, community volunteers has met biweekly to plan key events. Kumeyaay representatives have also contributed to the group’s discussions about an accurate historical representation of their history.
