A Kansas City man was arrested after he allegedly assaulted three people outside a Platte County motel and shot a service dog who tried to intervene in the attack. The female victim told police that she suffers from a condition that causes joint pain, dizziness and panic attacks. QUICKSBURG, Va. – With a push of a button, 40,000 square feet seemingly come to life to show off America’s love affair with parades. “Every parade float tells a story,” said Joe Proctor, general manager of the American Celebration on Parade. Nestled in Virginia’s Shenandoah Valley, it’s a retirement village of sorts – for some of the largest floats of America’s most iconic parades. “Most people have no clue or no idea how big these parade floats are,” Proctor said. “Some of these or as long as 80 feet long and also go up to heights of over 30 feet.” Proctor grew up at the museum – literally. His father was once the general manager. Now, he runs the place. “I always felt a special love in my heart, like there was something in that,” he said. “I was a part of something very special.” So how did it all come to be here? Back in the 1940s, a man named Earl Hargrove was designing storefront window displays in Washington, D.C. His work caught the eye of President Harry Truman, who asked him to design a float for his inauguration parade. And the rest is history: Hargrove’s floats have appeared in every presidential inauguration parade since then. “We have a parade float that came out of Ronald Reagan's inauguration that's over 65 feet long and about 30 feet tall,” Proctor said. That’s not all: their floats have appeared in the Tournament of Roses Parade and Thanksgiving Day, among others. “Earl Hargrove loved parade floats,” Proctor said. “He loved decorating. And each year the parade floats kept getting bigger.” Hargrove couldn’t bear to get rid of them, so he built the museum to house them. A former Michigan high school resource officer was sentenced to one year in jail after being convicted of sexually assaulting three female students.Former Lansing Police Department Officer Matthew Priebe, 35, pleaded no contest to five charges in connection to three victims, including criminal sexual conduct against a minor, two counts of assault, misconduct in office, and attempted criminal sexual conduct. A college student whose body was found in a field hours after she got into a vehicle she mistakenly thought was her Uber ride died from multiple sharp force injuries, the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division said Monday.Samantha Josephson, 21, a student at the University of South Carolina, called an Uber around 2 a.m. Friday in Columbia, and was last seen getting into a black Chevy Impala, said Columbia Police Chief W.H. "Skip" Holbrook. Turkey hunters found her body 14 hours later in the field in Clarendon County, about 90 miles away.The Law Enforcement Division cited an autopsy report from the Clarendon County coroner. A 27-year-old man has confessed to killing US scientist Suzanne Eaton on the Greek island of Crete, a police spokesperson told CNN Monday.The local man had been detained by police for questioning, after the 59-year-old molecular biologist went missing July 2 while attending a conference.More details are expected to be announced Tuesday, Crete police said.Eaton was attending a conference at the Orthodox Academy when she disappeared, apparently during a run.Last Monday, her body was discovered by two locals deep inside a cave, according to Crete's Chief of Police Konstantinos Lagoudakis.She was found around 60 meters (nearly 200 feet) inside the cave, beneath an air shaft that had been covered by a large wooden pallet.
