(KGTV) — Country music artists banded together Wednesday to celebrate and recognize the best in the industry and provide some needed relief to a reeling music community.Nearly a week after the deadly shooting at a Thousand Oaks bar known for its affinity for country music, musicians focused on healing and laughing at the 52nd annual Country Music Association Awards. Garth Brooks led a solemn tribute to the 12 people killed during a shooting at a Southern California country music bar last week.RELATED: There's A Gender Gap In Country Music Radio - But Not In Its FansBrooks said the victims were "lost too soon" and urged viewers and the audience to "celebrate their lives." He then took off his hat and asked everyone to join him in a moment of silence. (KGTV and CNN) - President Trump will visit California next week, said White House press secretary Sarah Sanders at a briefing Wednesday. Sources familiar with Trump's plans say he is expected to tour the US-Mexico border to look at border wall prototypes in the San Diego area. The eight 30-foot tall prototypes are located near the existing wall in Otay Mesa.The President and White House have been looking to schedule a trip to the border "for a while," one source said. Trump has not visited California since he was sworn into office, though Vice President Mike Pence did a lucrative fundraising swing through the state in October.White House press secretary Sarah Sanders confirmed Trump is traveling to California next week but did not provide more specific details. 795

(KGTV) - A group of San Diego lawmakers, water agencies and business leaders are joining forces in opposition of a possible new state tax on tap water.Under the proposed State Senate Bill 623, Californians would see an additional 95 cents per month on their water bills.SB623 is one of two articles of legislation being discussed by state lawmakers that could see residents’ water bills go up by more than per month.The goal of the tax would be to clean polluted groundwater around the state, particularly agricultural areas where water is considered undrinkable -- with arsenic, lead and nitrate levels that have been compared to Flint, Michigan’s crisis.State Sen. Bill Monning (D-Carmel), who authored the bill, said SB623 "will establish the Safe and Affordable Drinking Water Fund to provide an ongoing source of funding to finance water improvement projects throughout California.The USGS map below show various water sites around California.
