After last week's freak incident that involved a flame effect malfunctioning before a Tennessee Titans, the NFL has told its teams not to use on-field pyro this week, ESPN reported. Before last Sunday's game at Nissan Stadium, a machine that produces flames burst into an uncontrolled fire. It took officials using fire extinguishers and sand to put out the fire. The fire also burned the grass along one of the sidelines. The ban does not prohibit teams from setting off fireworks into the air or using flame effects away from the field. 552

American rapper A$AP Rocky has been charged with assault after a confrontation in Stockholm in June, prosecutors said. The 30-year-old -- whose real name is Rakim Mayers -- has been in custody since July 3, following a confrontation in the Swedish capital on June 30.The rapper's lawyer, Slobodan Jovicic, has maintained he was defending himself after being assaulted and that his client is innocent."We think it was self-defense, but the prosecutor has chosen to go with the injured party's version," Jovicic said, adding that his client is "very disappointed" that the prosecutor has "chosen to go with the other party's version" of events.Swedish public prosecutor Daniel Suneson claims A$AP Rocky and two other men assaulted the victim by kicking and beating him with a whole or part of a glass bottle, according to court documents seen by CNN.All three have been charged for their involvement in the brawl and will remain in custody until the trial, which will begin on Tuesday.Suneson said that he had determined the events constituted a crime "despite claims of self-defense and provocation" after reviewing video material and witness statements."It is worth noting that I have had access to a greater amount of material than that which has previously been available on the internet. In addition to video material, the injured party's statements have been supported by witness statements," Suneson said. The prosecutor is relying on cell phone videos, surveillance video from the Grand Hotel and a burger restaurant, text messages from A$AP Rocky's body guard where he talks about the assault and where they say they've recorded it, texts from the assistant's phone and DNA analysis from a bottle used in the assault.Footage posted by TMZ and others posted by A$AP Rocky of the brawl have been at the heart of the investigation.Video clips shared on Instagram by A$AP Rocky show the rapper and his companions repeatedly ask two men to stop following them. The rapper wrote in a caption that one of the men hit a member of his security "in the face with headphones," and reasserted that he was "innocent."But, in another video posted by TMZ, A$AP Rocky appears to grab one of the men and throw him to the ground. Another angle appeared to show the rapper and members of his entourage kicking and punching the man.Suneson said there were two injured in the assault, but allegations of one were dropped due to insufficient evidence and the prosecution only related to one injured party.Court documents claim that A$AP Rocky forcefully threw the victim to the ground before assaulting him.A counter allegation was also made by the rapper's bodyguard, but that case was closed, Suneson added.A$AP Rocky's case has drawn the attention of recording artists like Justin Bieber, as well as US President Donald Trump, who have called for his release. But authorities in Sweden have said they will not be swayed by international pressure."The Swedish judicial system is completely independent and does not take into consideration outside pressure from politicians or others," a spokesman for the Swedish prosecution authority told CNN on Sunday. And, while Trump has offered to personally vouch for the 30-year-old rapper's bail, the bail system does not exist in Sweden. As Dennis Martinsson, a legal expert in Sweden, told CNN: "If you know the Swedish legal system you know that there is no bail system.""Actually, the Swedish constitution prevents any minister, even the Prime Minister, getting involved, or even saying something about an individual case," he added. The President's involvement in the case came at the request of celebrities and the First Lady -- the latest incident in which star influence has swayed Trump to make certain decisions.Trump on Friday credited Melania Trump with bringing A$AP Rocky's plight to his attention. The President added: "Many members of the African American community have called me -- friends of mine -- and said, 'Could you help?'"Trump also revealed on Twitter that he spoke to Kanye West about the matter. On Thursday, Kim Kardashian West thanked Trump, Secretary of State Mike Pompeo and Trump's son-in-law and senior White House adviser Jared Kushner for their efforts in trying to get A$AP Rocky released.Asked about whether A$AP Rocky had any response to the support offered by President Trump, the rapper's lawyer said: "There has been a lot of support from a lot of different people, and Mayers is of course very thankful for everybody that has reached out." 4517

After spending more than two hours fighting off attacks from fellow Democrat presidential candidates, former Vice President Joe Biden spent his closing remarks by preaching unity — before sending viewers to the wrong website."This is the United States of America. We've acted together. We have never, never, never been unable to overcome whatever the problem was," Biden said. "If you agree with me, go to Joe30330 and help me in this fight." Biden likely meant to ask viewers to text the word "Joe" to the number 30330 for more information. But his closing statement sent thousands to a dead URL. 610

A physical struggle between a woman and a group of squeegee kids ended with a gunshot. It happened just after 2 p.m. Wednesday in Baltimore.A woman called police and reported her gun went off after a group of squeegee kids surrounded and began reaching into her car while stopped at a light. The woman told police the group first sprayed her windshield. According to a police report, the group allegedly became very aggressive, and began demanding money, and damaging the car with the squeegee. The victim told officers the group refused to move, and there was no way to drive off without running them over.Out of fear, the woman told police she reached into her purse and grabbed a registered handgun, while still asking them to leave. One of the suspects then reportedly reached into the car and grabbed the woman's wrist, she was holding the gun with. After a struggle, the gun fired into the passenger seat of the victim's vehicle, causing the group to flee.Police say they were unable to find anyone in the group. In their report, the officer wrote the victim had all proper permits to carry the gun.The incident is the latest of many involving squeegee kids in Baltimore. This article was written by Brian Kuebler and Ryan Dickstein for WMAR. 1254

A New Jersey woman faces four years in state prison for her role in scamming more than 0,000 from GoFundMe donors, claiming to be collecting money for a homeless man in Philadelphia.Katelyn McClure, 29, pleaded guilty to one count of theft by deception in the second degree Monday in Burlington County, New Jersey. In the viral story from 2017 that made national headlines, New Jersey resident McClure ran out of gas and was stranded on Interstate 95 in Philadelphia. The homeless man, Johnny Bobbitt Jr., supposedly saw her and gave her his last for gas.McClure and her then-boyfriend, Mark D'Amico, posted about the "good deed" on social media, including a picture of her with Bobbitt on a highway ramp. They also started a GoFundMe campaign to raise money for the homeless man, saying they wanted to pay it forward to the good Samaritan and get him off the streets.Bobbitt pleaded guilty at the local level to one count of conspiracy to commit theft by deception last Friday. He faces a five-year special probation period that requires him to enter the state Superior Court drug court program, in which he'll be expected to get a job and adhere to a structured regimen of treatment and recovery services. Any infractions could bring him a five-year prison sentence, according to Joel Bewley, a spokesman for the Burlington County Prosecutor's Office.CNN reached out to Bobbitt's attorney for comment, but has not heard back. Both Bobbitt and McClure agreed to testify against D'Amico, who has yet to enter a plea in Burlington County court on charges of theft by deception and conspiracy to commit theft by deception in the second degree. His case is scheduled to be presented next month to a Burlington County grand jury for a possible indictment. Both McClure and Bobbitt also pleaded guilty to federal charges in early March.D'Amico is not currently facing federal charges. McClure's lawyer said she had tried to stop the GoFundMe page and D'Amico wouldn't let her."We've indicated throughout it's my view that Mr. D'Amico is the real agent provocateur in this matter.Kate's role from the beginning was to help Mr. Bobbitt," said McClure's attorney, Jim Gerrow."Kate has been strong. She's devastated by this and has been, but we look to the sentencings in federal and state courts and hopefully we can find sufficient evidence to convince both judges of her role and the fact that throughout this she started out with benign motive, her hope to help Johnny Bobbitt and not to enrich herself or anyone else," Gerrow said. The couple transferred the funds to their bank account and bought a BMW, expensive handbags and went on trips, including to casinos in Pennsylvania, New Jersey and Nevada, according to court documents.McClure transferred ,000 from her bank account to Bobbitt's in December 2017, federal prosecutors said. He received a total of ,000 in the campaign, according to Burlington County Prosecutor Scott Coffina.GoFundMe has since made refunds to thousands of people who donated thinking they were giving to Bobbitt. Both Bobbitt and McClure must pay back the money in restitution, per their state court plea deals. The story began to fall apart after Bobbitt sued McClure and D'Amico, accusing them of withholding the money raised on his behalf."In reality, McClure never ran out of gas and Bobbitt never spent his last for her," according to a US Attorney's Office press release. "D'Amico and McClure allegedly conspired to create the false story to obtain money from donors."The federal cases have not been settled. McClure could face up to 20 years in prison and a 0,000 fine after pleading guilty to one count of conspiracy to commit wire fraud. She will be sentenced on June 19.Bobbitt could face up to 10 years in prison and a 0,000 fine on the federal charge after pleading guilty to one count of conspiracy to commit money laundering. He will be sentenced at a later date. 3964
