We're now entering peak back-to-school shopping season, but this is turning out to be a school shopping season like none ever before.In the year of the pandemic, many parents are holding off, unsure their children will even set foot in their schools this fall.In normal years, Target, Staples and other stores would be running big back-to-school campaigns by now. Have you seen any for sale in four months?)But these are not normal times.With many schools already planning for online learning this September, there's no need to buy lots of new school clothing or even backpacks.Other schools are holding off announcing any plans, which means teachers cannot come up with lists of required items yet.Why shopping could still be strongIt turns out learning at home may actually boost sales figures this year, according to the National Retail Federation.It says parents will be buying more laptop PCs and iPads then ever before. With many students learning at home even just part time, demand is soaring for new laptops to improve the Zoom call experience.The result is that the retail group predicts shopping could be 3-5% higher than last year, with more parents than ever dropping 0 to ,000 on a computer. Two kids? We tend to go to thrift stores to find good deals and to save money.  But have you ever thought about making money at a thrift store instead?The idea is to buy items that you can resell at a higher price online.Ecommerce expert Glen Zubia buys and sells items for a living on sites like eBay and makes up to ,000 a month.So what are the things to look for?  “First probably go electronics; electronics people buy DVD/VHS combos, old video games,” said Zubia.When first starting out, he suggests you stick with familiar items.  For example, Zubia suggests items related to pop culture, Disney items, and certain exclusive products tied to sports teams.  "And then of course, vintage always comes back," said Zubia.If you go to a thrift store and see an item you would never buy, just know there is likely someone out there who would.  The key is to do some quick research online to find out what people are wanting and how much they are willing to spend.Zubia points out that just because something is listed on eBay at a certain price, it doesn't necessarily mean it will actually sell for that price.  "But the completed listings will tell us, 'okay this is selling for ,' here it is in my hand for .  Now I have an expectation to make a certain amount of money,” said Zubia.There are other sites besides eBay where you can sell your items like Tradsey, Poshmart and Amazon. Weld County prosecutors on Monday formally charged 33-year-old Chris Watts with nine felony counts, including first-degree murder, in regards to the deaths of his pregnant wife, Shanann Watts, and their two young daughters.Watts faces three counts of first-degree murder after deliberation, two counts of first-degree murder – victim under 12/position of trust, one count of first-degree unlawful termination of a pregnancy, and three counts of tampering with a deceased human body, according to Colorado court records and documents filed Monday afternoon.READ: Affidavit: Chris Watts was having affair, claimed wife tried to kill daughters before he killed herAt a Monday afternoon news conference, District Attorney Michael Rourke declined to further discuss any details of the case.But Shanann Watts' father, Frank Rzucek, gave a brief statement: "We would like to thank everyone in the Frederick Police Department and all the agencies involved for working so hard to find my daughter, granddaughters and [unborn child] Nico," Rzucek said. Court documents show her body was found in a "shallow grave near an oil tank." Her daughter’s bodies were discovered concealed within oil tanks nearby, sources told KMGH. Court documents filed late last week show experts were advised the bodies were in tanks filled with crude oil "for several days." Chris Watts had been an Anadarko employee but was fired by the company Wednesday.On Friday, the coroner's office announced they had positively identified the bodies as those of Shanann Watts and her two daughters. The manner and cause of death of all three bodies are pending further laboratory results and have not been released at this time.Weld County prosecutors said in court last week they believed the two girls and their mother were killed inside the home but did not elaborate.
