SAN DIEGO (CNS) - Sales of previously owned single-family homes and attached properties like condominiums and townhomes both fell more than 15 percent from October to November, according to data released Friday by the Greater San Diego Association of Realtors. Single-family home sales fell from 1,719 in October to 1,452 in November, a 15.5 percent drop. Attached property sales suffered an even steeper drop, falling 22.8 percent from 942 in October to 727 in November. Home sales have trended down in the second half of the year since the high water mark of more than 2,200 single-family homes and nearly 1,200 attached properties sold in June.Month-over-month home prices also fell from October to November, albeit not as drastically. Single-family home prices dropped 1.4 percent from 3,700 to 5,000, while attached property prices fell 5 percent -- from 8,000 to 7,000. Prices of single-family and attached properties have remained steady for most of the year, according to the GSDAR.``The end of the year and the holiday season are usually a sluggish time for home sale activity,'' said SDAR President Steve Fraioli. ``But it does appear that the pace of home price growth has slowed. SAN DIEGO (CNS) - Police Tuesday were searching for two men who carjacked a 43-year-old man at knifepoint near San Diego Mesa College in the Clairemont area.It happened shortly before 10:50 p.m. Monday in the 7200 block of Mesa College Drive, off Linda Vista Road west of state Route 163, San Diego police Officer John Buttle said.A 43-year-old man had just parked his car, a blue 2019 Mazda3 sedan with California license plate 7YGF888, when two men walked up to him, Buttle said. One of the men was armed with a knife and placed the knife to the victim's stomach while demanding the car keys.The victim complied and both suspects drove off in the car, which was last seen heading eastbound on Mesa College Drive, Buttle said. SAN DIEGO (CNS) - Prosecutors Friday announced charges against 10 alleged members of a San Diego auto insurance fraud ring, who are accused of buying damaged vehicles and staging car thefts in order to collect more than 0,000 in fraudulent claims.The defendants -- four were arrested this week, while a half-dozen others remain at large -- are accused of buying already-damaged vehicles with high mileage, then submitting false damage or theft claims, defrauding a dozen insurance companies in the process, according to prosecutors and the California Department of Insurance.Investigators allege the suspects filed about three dozen false claims over the course of four years, with 56 vehicles used in the alleged scheme. SAN DIEGO (CNS) - San Diego County public health officials have reported 320 new COVID-19 infections and four more deaths from the illness, raising the county's totals to 50,143 cases, a milestone for the region, and 825 fatalities.Two women and two men died, and their ages ranged from early to late 60s. Three had underlying medical conditions.Of the 11,371 tests reported Friday, 3% returned positive, bringing the 14-day rolling average percentage of positive cases to 2.8%. The seven-day daily average of tests was 10,127.Of the total number of cases in the county, 3,670 -- or 7.3% -- have required hospitalization and 849 -- or 1.7% of all cases -- had to be admitted to an intensive care unit.Four community outbreaks were reported Friday, two in businesses and two in restaurant/bar settings.In the past seven days, Oct. 3 through Oct. 9, 38 community outbreaks were confirmed, well above the trigger of seven or more in a week's time. A community setting outbreak is defined as three or more COVID-19 cases in a setting and in people of different households over the past 14 days.The county remains in the second -- or red -- tier of the state's four- tier COVID-19 reopening plan.
