Perhaps you'll be enjoying the sun and sand at one of the top 10 beaches in the USA.For 2018, Kapalua Bay Beach in Maui is No. 1, according to coastal sciences professor Dr. Beach.Dr. Beach, also known as Stephen P. Leatherman, has been releasing an annual list of the United States' top beach destinations since 1991. Leatherman is professor and director of the Laboratory for Coastal Research at Florida International University.He uses 50 criteria to assess the beaches -- from water and sand quality to amenities, pests and views and vistas.Kapalua, a gorgeous white-sand crescent, is billed as perfect for swimming and snorkeling, and fish food and snorkeling gear are available from a concession hut at the north end of the beach.Lined by palm trees, the beach is protected from waves by the "arms" of lava flows, creating an area teeming with colorful fish.The second-ranked beach is nearly 5,000 miles away on the Outer Banks of North Carolina. Ocracoke Lifeguarded Beach is located on Ocracoke Island, which is only accessible via private boat or ferry.Rounding out the top three, the mile-long beach at Grayton Beach State Park is located in a 2,000-acre park on Florida's Panhandle. In an article for the website Motherboard, Grauer gives a list of people search sites and how to request that your information be removed.Some sites like MyLife, require a phone call or email. But others have more hoops for you to jump through."They want you to mail your driver’s license," Grauer said.Even then, removal may not be permanent."You have to repeat this process every three months or so," Grauer says of the privacy service.Grauer says the privacy service, Delete Me, offers to continuously have you removed for an annual fee.But Grauer says the easiest way to keep them out of your business is to "be careful about not giving out your information as much as possible."That could mean using a P.O. box or your work address to receive mail — or using your initials instead of your full name when making purchases. 1316

(AP) — Crews are working to recover the body of a tourist who slipped and fell over a Grand Canyon lookout.The fall happened Thursday morning on the Hualapai Tribe's reservation to the west of Grand Canyon National Park.David Leibowitz is a spokesman for Grand Canyon West, a popular tourist destination on the reservation. He says a man in his 50s from Hong Kong fell and slipped at Eagle Point while trying to take photographs. He says the man, who was part of a tour group, is presumed dead.Eagle Point is adjacent to the Skywalk, a horseshoe-shaped glass bridge that juts out from the canyon wall. The rim has some ledges and outcroppings below but no barrier between tourists and the edge.Leibowitz says the area is closed for the day. 773

GORMAN, Calif. (KGTV) - Interstate 5 over the Grapevine reopened Thursday afternoon after an hours-long closure due to snow, ice, and multiple collisions. California Highway Patrol officials said the crashes involved semi-trucks and other stuck vehicles on north I-5 just north of Gorman School Road. There were no immediate reports of injuries.CHP officers also escorted traffic over Highway 58.At 9:27 a.m., the National Weather Service reported snow in the higher elevations of the I-5 pass through the Grapevine. Drivers are urged to use extreme caution when traveling over the Grapevine or avoid the area if possible.A Winter Weather Advisory has been extended until 4 p.m. and now includes areas in the Kern County Mountains above 4,000 feet, according to NWS. 774

Hawaii wants you to come work remotely in paradise.Last month, the state launched a temporary residency program called "Movers and Shakas" to persuade people to move to help boost the economy by working and living in the Aloha State.Fifty people will be chosen and would receive incentives like free roundtrip airfare and discounts on hotels.According to a press release, the program will accept more applicants on a rolling basis.Those accepted into the program must stay for at least 30 days, commit a few hours every week to volunteer for a non-profit, and be at least 18 years old.The program is accepting applications until Dec. 15. 645
