SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- Police arrested a man Wednesday suspected of robbing a US Bank in North park before causing a major backup on I-5 in the South Bay. According to the FBI, Gustavo Torres, 32, was charged Thursday with one count of robbery. Torres is accused of robbing the US Bank on the 3200 block of University Avenue in North Park on August 7. Shortly after the robbery, San Diego Police were able to track down a suspect matching the bank robber’s description on Interstate 5 near Main Street in Chula Vista. Authorities shut down all lanes of southbound I-5 during the arrest, forcing traffic to a halt. According to the FBI, Torres is due in court for an arraignment on August 9. 696

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) – One person is dead following a shooting at a Midway-area adult store, according to police.The shooting happened around 1:45 p.m. on the 3600 block of Midway Drive at Kemper Street, near the back of the Home Depot.When they arrived, authorities found the body of a 65-year-old woman inside the store. The woman had trauma to her upper body, according to police. Police say a preliminary investigation revealed that the woman was reportedly assaulted while inside the business.The possible suspect was described as a white man last seen wearing a navy blue shirt and navy blue pants. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — Police have identified the man who died in custody after being arrested in Little Italy earlier this month.Vito Vitale, also known as Todd James Vitale, 39, died at the hospital after being taken into custody.Witnesses say Vitale was running in and out of traffic naked near the 600 block of West Grape Street around 11 p.m. Friday yelling for help.People who witnessed the events also told police that the man appeared to be under the influence of drugs and/or alcohol.RELATED: Police investigate death of man arrested in Little ItalyAfter placing Vitale into handcuffs, several witnesses had to help officers restrain him. According to police, the incident happened on the 2400 block of Hopkins Street just after 2 a.m. Police say the 30-year-old was attending a party at a nearby home when an unknown suspect or suspects shot him several times. Party guests reportedly took the man to the hospital where he underwent surgery. Police say the man is expected to survive his injuries.
