(KGTV) – A U.S. Forest Service firefighter was injured while battling a vegetation fire that has burned 10 acres in the Cleveland National Forest near the community of Alpine.The firefighter was taken to an area hospital for treatment according to U.S. Forest Service's Anabele Cornejo. No other details were available.Amid strong Santa Ana winds in the area Friday, a wildfire erupted in the Japatul Valley area of San Diego's East County.The blaze was reported just before 1 p.m. Friday near the 21000 block of Japatul Road, southeast of Alpine, according to the California Highway Patrol.According to the CHP, dark smoke was visible from the agency’s Interstate 8 viewpoint. The CHP also noted the strong winds swirling in the area.Cal Fire San Diego said the fire went on to burn at least 10 acres as of 1:55 p.m., but good progress was made in the firefight thanks to crews on the ground and aerial water and retardant drops.No evacuation orders were issued, but residents in the nearby area were told to shelter in place as a precaution.With Santa Ana winds whipping in the county’s inland and mountain areas, a Red Flag warning was in effect until early Saturday morning. 1186

(KGTV and CNN) - Newly released video from a passenger shows the moments before and after strong winds led to the crash of an Aeromexico plane in northern Mexico.Flight 2431 had just left Durango, Mexico for Mexico City on Tuesday when it took a nose dive.Video shows the plane fall before flames erupt outside the window. The plane skidded off the runway at the Guadalupe Victoria International Airport until it stopped about 300 meters away, according to Durango’s governor.RELATED: A plane crashed in Mexico but everyone on board survived99 passengers and four crew members were on board including Ashley Garcia, who recorded the video. Everyone evacuated the plane using its emergency evacuation slides before flames engulfed the aircraft, officials said. Although 49 people were hospitalized, no one died.Anabel Estrada -- a passenger from Joliet, Illinois -- felt like the aircraft had been battling against the heavy rain and wind before it hit the ground twice during the crash."The second impact was a lot stronger. This is when I jumped and hit my head against the ceiling," Estrada said. (KGTV) — A woman was arrested Friday after police said she threw apparent blood onto the state Senate floor.According to California Highway Patrol, the woman threw a feminine hygiene product containing what appeared to be blood from the second floor public gallery.CHP did not say what the woman's motivation was, but referred to her as a "demonstrator," the Associated Press reported. The act happened as hundreds of protesters at the Capitol rallied against a recently passed law cracking down on fraudulent medical exemptions for vaccinations.The AP also reported the woman had yelled "that's for the dead babies" before throwing the red liquid. Several senators were reportedly hit. Senate President Pro Tempore Toni Atkins called the behavior "unacceptable."The state Senate relocated to a committee room to complete their session.The woman was charged with assault, vandalism, and disrupting the orderly conduct of official business at the state Capitol, according to CHP. 986
