In like a lion, out like a lion?Don't let this weather April Fool you, after a warm weekend in many parts of the US, temperatures are dipping dramatically. From St. Louis to New York, millions of Americans enjoyed barbecues, beaches and parks with temperatures reaching into the 60s and 70s. Even parts of Alaska reached 70 degrees on Saturday -- the earliest in the year anywhere in the state has hit that high. But here's hoping the tulips and the sprinkler systems haven't yet made their way back into your yard as temperatures will be falling rapidly across large swaths of the country.By Monday morning temperatures are expected to drop so dramatically that over 20 million people from Arkansas to North Carolina will be under a freeze warning.Northeast likely to experience most dramatic changeCNN meteorologist Michael Guy expects a stunning reversal of temperatures for April 1 -- ranging from 10-20 degrees below average for this time of year.Guy says the most extreme drops are forecast to be in the Northeast, with New York City dropping from Sunday's 65 degree high to a forecast 46 degrees, Boston falling from 70 to 45 degrees and Washington DC from 64 to 45 degrees. The cold snap is due to a strong cold front moving in and the battle between warm versus cold air this time of year, he says. Most people in the Northeast, mid-South and Midwest will see highs in the 40s and the 50s.That means a city like Pittsburgh, after reveling in a high of 67 Saturday, will fall back to earth with temperatures in the upper 30s on Sunday. As the United States wakes up Monday, many of us will be trading out our flip flops for a closed toe and pulling our winter jackets back out of the storage closet. This is only temporary, however, as some part of the South are expected to bounce back to spring by Wednesday with Atlanta seeing temperatures of nearly 80 by next weekend. 1886

It has been more than five years since a New York City police officer put Eric Garner in a fatal chokehold during a struggle between Garner and police. After years of frustration, Garner's family applauded NYPD and Police Commissioner James O'Neill for firing Daniel Pantaleo.Emerald Garner, the daughter of Eric Garner, said she will continue fighting against police brutality. "Eric Garner was killed 5 years ago - it took 5 years for officer to be fired, " she said. "I don't want another Eric Garner. I will do everything in my power to never see another Eric Garner, I don't want to see another video of a person being choked...it wasn't supposed to happen to him and it wasn't supposed to happen."Emerald Garner thought the decision should have come sooner."Regardless of however you came up to your decision, you finally made a decision that should have been made five years ago," she said about O'Neill's decision. O'Neill said the decision behind Monday's announcement has been one he has thought about since being installed as commissioner in September 2016. "It's not something that I can make over a few hours - I have been thinking about this since the day I was sworn in as police commissioner," O'Neill said. "The decision was made in the last couple of days."Gwen Carr, Garner's mother, had a message for Daniel Pantaleo and his lawyer Stuart London."Pantaleo, you, your regime, London, you can appeal all you want. But I'm still out here, I'm out here for the long run. You come out here against me, I'm out here. And you cannot scare me away," Carr said. "I lost my son," Carr added. "You cannot replace that. You can get another job. Maybe at Burger King."Although Pantaleo was fired, he was not criminally charged for the fatal chokehold. The US Department of Justice decided earlier this year not to press charges. London confirmed with CNN that he plans on appealing NY{D's decision on Pantaleo's behalf. 1938

Italian Premier Giuseppe Conte says he is restricting travel nationwide to try to stop the spread of the new coronavirus. Conte said Monday night a new government decree will require all people in Italy to demonstrate they need to work, have health conditions or other limited legitimate reasons to travel outside their home areas. He said the restrictions will take effect on Tuesday and like those in northern Italy will last until April 3. Pubs had been closed in northern Italy, with eateries and cafes also ordered to close at dusk. Now that crackdown is extended to the entire country. 604

It’s really cold this morning in @CityOfLasVegas. If using a space heater to get ready for work/school, make sure to unplug it before you leave & make sure nothing is around it. Make sure the stove is OFF on the way out too. Dress warmly, it’s freezing in some neighborhoods. pic.twitter.com/LQpvX4TQhI— Las Vegas FireRescue (@LasVegasFD) February 20, 2019 372
