CAIRO, Nov.9 (Xinhua) -- Diplomats from Arabic countries and China hailed on Tuesday the relations in various fields between China and Arabic countries, expecting further all-round development of bilateral ties."China has always regarded Arab countries as developing nations. And to strengthen the solidarity and cooperation with developing countries is one of the basic principles in China's foreign policy, " said Song Aiguo, Chinese new ambassador to Egypt.The friendship and cooperation relations between China and Arabic countries have been at fairly good levels, he said at a China-Arab relations seminar organized by the Cairo-based Afro- Asian Peoples Solidarity Organization (AAPSO), a mass nongovernmental body with national committees in more than 90 countries of the world -- in Asia and Africa, and associate member committees in Europe and Latin America.The Chinese government will stick to further developing its cooperation and friendship with Arab countries, he added.China and Arab countries have relations dating back about 2,000 years ago. China has diplomatic ties with all 22 members of the Arab League.The two sides have always been maintaining mutual respect, understanding and support, Song said, adding China always greatly supports the just causes of Arabic countries and their people.Song said China supported the efforts made by Arabic countries to solve the Middle East issues in a peaceful and fair way, the Arab Peace Initiative and the just cause of Palestinian people.Ahmed Hamroush, president of the AAPSO, said Egypt was the first country in the Arabic world and Africa to establish diplomatic ties with China. LONDON, Jan. 14 (Xinhua) -- The British business sector was pleased at the successful visit this week of Chinese Vice Premier Li Keqiang which concluded on Wednesday.During the four-day visit, Li signed business agreements with an estimated value of more than 4 billion U.S. dollars with the British government."China is vital to the UK economy. China is now the world's largest goods exporter and the UK's largest goods export market outside the U.S. and EU. We are keen to realize the immense potential for deepening and broadening areas of commercial cooperation," said British Minister of State for Trade and Investment Lord Green during the visit.The British coalition government was faced with a near-record public spending deficit of 149 billion pounds (about 236.5 billion dollars) and has chosen to tackle it immediately with the deepest set of cuts to public spending since the Second World War.In such an economic climate, Vice Premier Li's visit to Britain brought welcome contracts but it also brought wider agreements that will bear fruit over a longer period, and that has been hailed as a great success.In an interview with Xinhua after Li's visit, Andy Scott, director international of the Confederation of British Industry (CBI), hailed the visit's success, the achievements of the deal itself, and the longer-term prospects which were very positive.Commenting on the visit, and on the wider China-British relationship, he said, "in the long-term prospects are very positive. They were setting the framework and they will themselves be providing further opportunities to develop on those frameworks," he said.In addition, he stressed "professional services, the retail sector, design, the creative area, and the whole engineering consultancy arena" where Britain has goods which China wants in its infrastructure development.Scott particularly welcomed Chinese investment into Britain, and hoped that it would continue the momentum achieved recently."We are increasingly seeing China now investing directly in UK companies and that we see as being very positive," he said.That was now "a further example of where the whole relationship with China is changing; it is not just about physical goods, it is about investment, it is about capital coming into the UK," he added.

BELGRADE, Nov. 23 (Xinhua) -- Celebrating 30 years of cooperation and fraternal relations between the capitals of Serbia and China, an art exhibit entitled "The Beauty of Beijing" was opened in the Old Palace in Belgrade on Tuesday.Belgrade Mayor Dragan Djilas extended a welcome to the visiting Beijing delegation, underscoring years of cooperation and cultural exchanges."For us the bridge we are going to build together is important, along with our cultural components which will complement our desire for Belgrade in 2020 to be the European 'cultural capital'," said Djilas, making reference to the 1,507-meter bridge over the Danube River to be constructed by Chinese firms. BEIJING, Jan. 9 (Xinhua) -- China's Ministry of Public Security (MPS) on Sunday ordered traffic police nationwide to prepare for possible traffic disruptions caused by a lingering cold snap.The cold weather that has stopped traffic on national highways in several central and southern provinces since New Year's Day is likely to last ten more days.At a national meeting on coping with traffic disruptions during the cold snap, vice public security minister Huang Ming said local traffic police should be prepared to control and solve traffic problems that icy weather and sleet might cause.Further, local traffic police should make realistic emergency plans, prepare emergency supplies and equipment for de-icing and removing snow, and quickly handle traffic accidents, he said.He added that road closures should be the last choice in handling poor road conditions caused by freezing weather. Additionally, local traffic police should take other measures such as temporarily opening roads to ensure traffic flows.The recent inclement weather is a reminder of the disastrous freezing winter at the beginning of 2008, which stopped traffic, damaged power grids, and disrupted lives of millions in southern China.However, experts believe China is unlikely to suffer similar conditions this winter because of inadequate moisture.
