DETROIT - The bodies of 11 infants were found in the ceiling of a former funeral home on Detroit's east side Friday evening, according to Detroit Police. Police say the bodies were found in a box and in a small casket. Cadaver dogs were on scene, and in all police found the 11 bodies of infants and stillborns. The Cantrell Funeral Home was shut down earlier this year due to several violations and "deplorable, unsanitary conditions." Police say a tip through the Michigan Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs (LARA) sparked the investigation. LARA reported Cantrell Funeral Home had 60 days to either assign its existing prepaid contracts to another person registered under the Prepaid Act and notify the Department and contract buyers of the assignment within 30 days of the assignment.The funeral home's other option was to cancel their current contracts and issue refunds to each contract buyer, providing copies of refund checks and correspondence to each contract buyer to the Department within 90 days, unless the Department modifies, vacates, or extends the terms of the Order.A spokesperson from LARA has released this statement regarding their investigation: 1228

DENVER – Police are investigating a homicide scene after three adults were found dead Thursday afternoon near a major Denver intersection.Police initially said they were investigating a death at the scene, but later tweeted that they were investigating a homicide involving three adults. A Denver police spokesperson confirmed all three people were dead.A news crew at the scene said police appeared to be searching the bushes near the RTD light rail and bus station. A man who works at a nearby business said he had seen what appeared to be three people setting up a camp in the area on Tuesday. 604

DETROIT — A clash between Detroit police and protesters was caught on camera Sunday night.Video shared on Twitter shows a group of protesters marching near Waterman and Vernor Highway in Detroit. The peaceful demonstrators surrounded a police cruiser, which pulls forward and into a group of protesters.Some protesters jumped onto the hood of the vehicle as it pulled forward.Leo Alvarado, who was at a nearby gas station, witnessed the altercation."Just so happened to be getting out with my wife when we heard a bunch of screaming and turned around, and cops were plowing through the crowd or started to drive through the crowd," Alvarado said. "Craziness. I've never seen anything like that in my life. Hopefully never again have to see anything like that."Alvarado said a medic treated cuts and wounds that were on demonstrators' arms. "I felt the death penalty is not justice. It's vengeance and vengeance doesn't belong in our courts."Becker's time on a death penalty jury came to an abrupt and emotional end after the judge let the defense present evidence sympathetic to the defendant. Evidence Becker believes should have come to light long before he was asked to potentially put a man to death. Evidence so strong, the prosecution ended up taking the death penalty off the table."It became very apparent to me that we are asking people to come to this conclusion and not providing them all of the information. (KGTV) - Cal Fire completed even more training this year, this time integrated with other agencies, sharpening their firefighting skills.Cal Fire sprang into action Wednesday, attacking the Vista Fire in Dehesa."I was shocked, so many helicopters, dropping off so many bodies, when you looked at the hill, gosh I don't think I'm exaggerating when I say there were 100 firefighters on that hill," neighbor Sherry German said.When the fire started, German's dog Joey let her know something was wrong. When she let him out, she heard the sirens coming, turned and saw the flames right next-door."I panicked when I saw the flames, I told my husband I'm out of here, I'm grabbing the dog, I'm grabbing my work and I'm out of here," German said.Some of the force fighting that fire took off from the Ramona Air Attack Base. On the tarmac perch two planes equipped to make retardant drops, a guide plane for the air buses, two tanks holding 50,000 gallons of retardant mixed with water, ready to go. They also have more than a dozen bags of red retardant powder, each weighing a ton.They used two and a half bags in the Vista Fire fight."This is the peak part of our season so we're definitely staffed up and ready to go, Cal Fire has a ton of resources," Public Information Officer Thomas Shoots said. He said the extra training integrated with other agencies is what strengthened their ability to respond instantaneously."We've been blessed with a couple weeks of marine layer and cooler weather but it is getting hotter it is getting drier," he said, concerned about the rest of the summer.German said she feels safe knowing how fast they respond, "the fact that it actually came close to a number of my neighbor's properties, in yet they were on it so fast that no property damage was done and really it was remarkable, I'm so grateful." 1857
