DELAWARE COUNTY, Ind. -- A substitute bus driver in Lebanon, Indiana was fired last week after the district said she pulled over on the side of the interstate and allowed two strangers onto the bus to scold a child. The incident happened last Wednesday, on I-65 after a student was reportedly making lewd actions toward drivers. A driver then flagged down the bus and the bus driver allowed two people on to scold the student. The two people then got off the bus and back to their vehicles. The Superintendent of Lebanon Community Schools, Dr. Robert Taylor, calls the situation "unacceptable."The bus driver, who has not been named, was immediately fired.Dr. Taylor said she violated every protocol and procedure they have in place. "It's a matter of picking up the radio and instantaneously contacting somebody that could provide help," said Dr. Taylor. "That's exactly what should have been done."The district is working with local police to conduct a full investigation into the situation.   1043

Death row inmate, 61-year-old David Earl Miller will be executed tonight by the electric chair at 7 p.m. tonight.Miller is the second Tennessee death row inmate in just over a month to choose to die by the electric chair. DENVER — Denver Mayor Michael Hancock flew to Mississippi Wednesday to have Thanksgiving with his wife and daughter at his daughter's home after pleading with Denverites not to travel for the holiday if possible.On Wednesday morning, Mike Strott, deputy communications director with the Office of the Mayor, confirmed that Hancock had left the state to celebrate the holiday."As he has shared, the Mayor is not hosting his traditional large family dinner this year, but instead traveling alone to join his wife and daughter where the three of them will celebrate Thanksgiving at her residence instead of having them travel back to Denver," Strott said in a statement. "Upon return, he will follow all necessary health and safety guidance and quarantine."Hancock's trip comes at a time when more Coloradans than ever before are contagious with COVID-19. About one in 41 Coloradans are contagious with the coronavirus, up from one in 49 last week and a large increase from an estimated one in 110 in recent weeks, health officials said in a Tuesday press conference.The trip also goes against the recommendations from the CDC, who has advised Americans not to travel for the Thanksgiving holiday.On Wednesday morning, Hancock said on Scripps station KMGH in Denver that his constituents should try and celebrate the holiday with those in their own households, of possible. DENVER — A mom-to-be is counting her blessings after receiving a generous tip from “Catfish” host Nev Schulman, who has the same birthday as her due date.Zulia Reyes works at the Smashburger at the Denver International Airport. She’s been a server for nearly a decade and has worked at the burger restaurant for more than a year.She said she’s met celebrities while working, but her connection with Schulman took it to another level when he asked her when she was due.“I told him Sept. 26," she said. "He’s like, 'That’s my birthday.'”Reyes is 32 weeks pregnant. The two took a picture and after Schulman left, Reyes discovered a big surprise on the table.“The tip was 6 — for my due date, which is Sept. 26, which is his birthday,” Reyes said. “It means the world to my baby and my family. We never expected this to happen to us.”Schulman left a note at the end of the receipt reading, "Congrats on your baby girl! Fingers crossed for 9/26, Nev.”Through tears, Reyes admitted she had lost hope on Monday.“I had one of those days where nothing went right for me at work,” she said.Her husband is out of work as they prepare for the arrival of baby Zulia. In April, Reyes was laid off for nearly a month from Smashburger.
