FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. (AP) — Richard DeLisi is a free man after serving 31 years of a 90-year sentence for selling marijuana. The 71-year-old walked out of a Florida prison Tuesday saying he's not bitter about the lost years and prefers to focus on creating memories with his family. According to The Last Prisoner Project, DeLisi was believed to have been the longest-serving nonviolent cannabis prisoner.He was sentenced to 90 years in 1989 at the age of 40. DeLisi's older brother, Ted, was also convicted, USA Today reported.According to the Associated Press, the typical sentence was only 12 to 17 years.DeLisi told the AP that he believes he was targeted because the judge mistakenly thought he was part of organized crime because he was Italian. According to USA Today, Ted was released from prison in 2013 after successfully appealing his conspiracy conviction.While he was in prison, Richard's wife, parents, and 23-year-old son all died. FORT WAYNE, Ind. — A man who lost an eye after being struck by a tear gas canister police in Indiana fired during a May protest over George Floyd’s death is suing the city and a police officer. Twenty-one-year-old Balin Brake's federal lawsuit contends the injury “has permanently changed his life." He's seeking damages from the city of Fort Wayne and the unidentified officer who fired the canister. The Journal Gazette reports that Brake's right eye had to be surgically removed after it was struck by a tear gas canister during the May 30 protest. Former President Barack Obama and former Vice President Joe Biden were reunited Monday, when they went out for lunch at a Washington, DC, bakery.Obama and Biden spent about 45 minutes at Dog Tag Bakery in Georgetown. The bakery runs a fellowship program, now in its eighth class, that acts as a "living business school" for veterans, military spouses and military caregivers, Dog Tag CEO Meghan Ogilvie told COVER/LINE. Professors from Georgetown University teach fellows, who can earn a certificate of business administration from Georgetown University's School of Continuing Studies.Ogilvie said she found out about six minutes before Obama and Biden arrived that they were coming. She gathered the current 13 fellows and said they would have a team meeting and surprised them when the 44th President of the United States and his Veep walked in.Obama and Biden met the fellows, took selfies with them and talked to them about their future business plans for about 20 to 30 minutes. They also grabbed a bite to eat.If it wasn't for the fact they were once leaders of the free world, "it would seem like two friends coming together to have lunch," Ogilvie said.They ordered ham and gruyère sandwiches. FREDERICK, Colo. -- A Frederick husband and father is behind bars in the Weld County Jail, booked early Thursday morning for the disappearance of his pregnant wife and two young daughters.According to two law enforcement officials, Christopher Watts, 33, has confessed to killing Shanann?Watts, 34, and their two daughters — 3-year-old Celeste and 4-year-old Bella. Officials believe they know where the bodies are.Watts and her daughters were reported missing out of Frederick on Monday. The Colorado Bureau of Investigation issued a missing-endangered alert for the three on Tuesday. A day later, the Federal Bureau of Investigation joined in the search.Just after midnight Thursday, an official with the Frederick Police Department said they had made an arrest "in connection to the missing person's case" involving Shanann Watts and her two girls. Officials said they were awaiting charges for the suspect, who will be held at the Weld County Jail for the time being.Police declined to comment further on the investigation. Watts was 15 weeks pregnant.
