SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - A local truck owner is making an emotional plea for the return of one of his late father's prized possessions.The empty space that greeted Brad Mouw in front of his San Carlos home on Ballinger Avenue hit him with a flood of emotions Thursday morning."Hurt, violated, and angry," said Mouw.His 2008 Dodge Dakota pickup was gone.MAP: Track crime happening in your neighborhood"My heart was broken. That truck belonged to my dad. He loved his truck. He drove it to work every day," said Mouw, choking back tears.Mouw says the truck is something his dad Marvin held close to his heart, even as he battled dementia.   Marvin Mouw passed away in 2016 in Iowa. His beloved truck was eventually driven to San Diego."I got to see my dad every day.  Pretty much think about my father every day I get into my truck," said Mouw.On Thursday, those precious moments disappeared before his eyes, as he watched his surveillance video. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- A new monolith was supposed to be unveiled at a Scripps Ranch shopping center on Wednesday, but it was found destroyed hours before the introduction ceremony.Several weeks ago, a mysterious monolith appeared at the Scripps Ranch Marketplace, attracting crowds and raising questions like where it came from and who put it there.However, several days later, the monolith was removed by a group of teenagers.The theft of the monolith was disappointing for many, including Nutmeg Bakery & Café co-owner Drew Hoffus. He told ABC 10News that his business not only had a first-class view of the monolith, but it helped bring in customers.“This year has been a challenge for everyone … The landmarks helped us out a lot. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- A local father is recovering from stab wounds after getting attacked by an intruder in his home. The man's 20-year-old son shot and killed that intruder according to San Diego Police. It happened just before 6:30 Tuesday morning at a home in the 6300 block of Lake Shore Drive in San Carlos. Neighbors heard the violence. "I heard the gunshots, it was like three or four gunshots, then screams for help immediately after," said Denise Rolla. When police got to the home, they found the suspect dead in the pool and the 54-year-old homeowner with stab wounds to the upper body. Police say the homeowner's son shot and killed the intruder, who stumbled out the back and landed in the pool. "I heard what turned out to be the suspect fall into the pool and then a couple minutes later, you could see the blood start to spread out through the pool," said Andrew Grogg, who lives right next door. There are walking paths and Mission Trails Golf Course is located behind the homes which are just southwest of Jackson Drive. Neighbors say they don't have a problem with transients in the area, but police say so far, it appears the 38-year-old suspect is homeless. His name hasn't been released. The family owns a tire shop in La Mesa. They are well known and liked in the community. "They're local business owners in the community. They're great neighbors. They're kind, they're nice," said Grogg. Police say so far, the attack appears to be random. 1472

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) – A man was stabbed to death in San Diego’s Gaslamp Quarter early Wednesday morning, and police say one person was detained in connection with the incident.At around 2:30 a.m., San Diego police responded to reports of a stabbing in the 400 block of Fifth Avenue, near J Street.When officers arrived, they saw a man in his 40s with a stab wound on his chest lying on the ground with a woman trying to keep pressure on the injury.The victim was rushed to UC San Diego Medical Center, where he later died from his injuries.After the victim gave police a description of the attacker, officers spotted and then apprehended a man believed to be linked to the stabbing.ABC 10News learned the man was detained for questioning.SDPD Lt. Andra Brown said the incident is under investigation, but it appeared the stabbing took place following an exchange of words between the victim and his friends and another group of people. 940
