She tells 10 News her daughter ran to the car to find the window smashed and the purse stolen right from the trunk of the car.Feltman says her and her family were only in the patch for about 30 minutes. In that amount of time the thieves broke in, stole the purse and made it to Walmart off Murphy Canyon Road to make the purchase. Before heading into the pumpkin patch, Feltman says they took an extra step to put their purses in the trunk, making sure to not leave them in the back seat and visible.RELATED: Family alerted to burglars roaming tented condoUnfortunately the thieves still smashed the driver’s window to access the trunk latch but only grabbed her daughter’s purse and leaving Feltman’s.Feltman’s daughter has spent the past few days on the phone with the bank trying to cancel cards and reorder new ones. She also was at the DMV all day Monday and purchasing a new phone Tuesday. “Who would dream of people who are so evil and so cruel and so black hearted to do something like this I’m just in shock”.Now, the family left dealing with a complete invasion of privacy and sense of security, ”It’s like you’re violated even though they didn’t take any thing of mine personally they were in my car, reaching into my car just that alone makes you feel dirty, its just an icky feeling” Feltman tells us. 1937

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) – A driver was taken into custody after a passenger in his car died following in a crash in Paradise Hills early Wednesday morning.According to San Diego police, an 18-year-old driver and four passengers were in a car traveling westbound in the 6100 block of Paradise Valley Road at around 2 a.m. when the crash occurred.Police said the driver tried to make “an unsafe left” onto southbound Munda Road, but the car veered off the roadway and went down an embankment. All five people were able to get out of the car and made their way back to the street, but police said an 18-year-old girl had to be taken to the hospital. The girl, who was not identified, later died at the hospital from internal injuries. The driver fled the scene, but officers -- with the help of a helicopter overhead -- found him hiding in bushes a few blocks away surrounded by coyotes.Jail records obtained by ABC 10News show the driver, identified as 18-year-old Eduardo Douglas Jones, was booked on charges of gross vehicular manslaughter, hit-and-run causing death/injury, and DUI.The crash remains under investigation. 1119

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - A City pool is now drained and shut down after vandals threw glass into it.Parents who bring their kids to the Allied Gardens pool for swim lessons were notified on Monday of the closure. "Honestly my reaction, I just kind of sat there dumbfounded, they called and said the classes were canceled, me being curious I asked why, they said vandalism. I said you have to be kidding. This is my neighborhood!" said Marie Veenstra, a mom of three. She says two of her children attend lessons at the pool on Glenroy Street four days a week. "It is super frustrating, not only as a mom who can't bring her kids to the pool, but thinking about the environment," said Veenstra. The City says broken shards of glass can be impossible to see or retrieve without draining the pool. Broken glass found in and around the pool results in having to drain the pool completely, conduct a thorough cleaning of the pool bottom to retrieve remaining pieces of glass, refill the pool with water and necessary chemicals to ensure the pool is safe and then reopen the facility. The City's safety protocol is consistent with the Model Aquatic Health Code. Draining and refilling the more than 320,000-gallon pool will cost the City roughly ,000 when factoring in personnel. "We love our pool though, we wish this didn't happen, but we'll come back."City officials say a police report has been filed, but there are no leads as to who threw glass in the pool. 1458

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — A 19-year-old Arizona student has been arrested and now faces animal cruelty charges after police say he abused his emotional support dog.Netzer Villagomez, a student at Grand Canyon University, was arrested Sept. 22 after an Arizona Humane Society Animal Cruelty Investigator responded to reports of animal abuse involving a pug named Miso, an emotional support dog.Miso was examined by an AHS veterinarian, who said she found two fractured ribs, a fractured pelvis, and fractured tooth. Blood work also revealed elevated liver values indicating acute injuries.Police said Villagomez admitted to hanging Miso by its collar and leash, with all four legs off the ground, on two occasions for several seconds each time. Police say he also admitted to harming the dog on purpose.Villagomez sent photos of the reported abuse to another person, police added.Villagomez has been charged with Animal Cruelty, which went from a Class 6 to Class 5 Felony in Arizona last August. This means that such crimes cannot be dropped to a misdemeanor and may included jail time or supervised probation or treatment, according to the law. He's the first person to be arrested under the new penalties.Grand Canyon University released a statement to 10News, saying Villagomez had been expelled following his arrest."GCU Public Safety became aware of an incident involving Netzer Villagomez and immediately took possession of his emotional support animal to ensure its safety. The animal was turned over to the Arizona Humane Society and Mr. Villagomez was removed from campus. Mr. Villagomez has since been expelled from the university following his arrest by the Phoenix Police Department. Phoenix PD is handling any further actions associated with this matter."Miso will remain in AHS' care indefinitely, the humane society says. 1837

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — A 20-year-old woman claims she was sexually assaulted for about 20 minutes during a Lyft ride in June. She's identified as Jane Roe in a civil lawsuit filed by Estey & Bomberger, LLP on Thursday. Roe tells 10News she has a disability and is unable to drive, she relies on Lyft to get to and from UCSD and around San Diego on a daily basis."I would use Lyft every day for about a year and a half," said Roe. "I would use it about 2-3 times a day."In June, Roe says she was using Lyft to travel from her father's home to her mother's, a 32-minute ride on the Interstate 5 that would forever change her life.RELATED: San Diego women reported in Uber, Lyft sex assault cases"He just asked me inappropriate questions," Roe said, referring to her driver. "He was commenting about inappropriate behaviors that he likes to do."Roe said the driver then told her to sit in the front passenger's seat, and out of fear she complied."The man.. he started touching me.. he groped my vagina, he groped my inner thighs, my thighs, my hamstrings," Roe said. She said the assault lasted between 15 and 20 minutes."I was kind of in a state of shock," Roe said. RELATED: Man accused of raping women at knifepoint across San Diego will stand trialThe following day, she and her mom reported the alleged assault to San Diego Police and Lyft. But Roe and her attorney, Mike Bomberger, say Lyft has been unresponsive."One of the things we don't know is what happened to the driver," Bomberger said.Roe and Bomberger allege that Lyft is not doing enough to keep passengers safe."Lyft fails to cooperate with police when there's an assault. Lyft tries to silence victims from when they report these assaults and Lyft has the technology to prevent these assaults from happening and they don't use it," Bomberger said.RELATED: San Diego City Council votes to ban electric scooters from boardwalksRoe says she's going through therapy and hoping to recover from the traumatic experience, but says she wants safety improvements in every vehicle, like an emergency button or recording device."I don't want anyone to go through this again, I don't want anyone to feel like this, and I don't want him to be able to have a young girl in his car again," Roe said. The Lyft driver has been named in the complaint, but 10News is not naming him because he has not been charged with a crime. In a statement to 10News, Lyft said, in part, that they "recognize the risks that women face and are working to build safety into every aspect of their work."Lyft would not comment as to whether the driver was still driving for the company. 2620
