Police in Illinois have deemed a local man a hero after he raced to rescue a man from a burning vehicle on Sunday evening.According to the Aurora Police Department's Facebook page, a 57-year-old man rushed to the rescue after a single-car crash just after midnight on Saturday. Dash cam video from the crash shows the man dragging the driver away from the car by his legs as flames shoot out of the driver's side window.According to Aurora police, it was 58-year-old Jose Martinez who rushed out of his home to save the driver, a 34-year-old man. A second man, 29-year-old Devin Johnson, also helped by pulling the man away from the car.  "To say Jose's actions were heroic and brave are an understatement. Had he not taken immediate action, the driver would not have lived," the department wrote on Facebook. " Devin should also be commended for assuring the man was out of harm's way. (KGTV) - Neighbors report gas thieves are targeting Pacific Beach drivers.Neighbor Jaden Perez said she parked her car around 10 p.m. Monday night and when she came out Tuesday morning around 6:30 a.m. she notices her car wasn't how she left it, "the gas it was left open and then the cap was hanging out and I was like that was kind of weird."When she turned on her car, she noticed the gauge read 1/2 tank instead of the three-quarters she had the night before."It ruined my day and it was something that was petty," she said, frustrated. "I hear about people, their paint getting messed with, them getting broken in, and I'm in a nicer neighborhood and then that happened, I was just really bummed.""I think there's people who are not working period that are trying to just burglarize and steal and get whatever they want," neighbor David Como said. He wants the police to step in and make their presence known. He said for now, neighbors will keep an eye out.Jaden posted on Nextdoor to a roaring response, "I've had a lot of comments on my own post on Nextdoor lots of people saying hey you know this has happened to me too and so I was like, 'Oh my joke is truth!' Police in Washington, D.C. released body camera video Thursday from the shooting death of 18-year-old Deon Kay.Police said the incident began Wednesday when Kay and his friends brandished firearms on a social media livestream. Officers located where the livestream was taking place, drove to the scene and found the group.Less than 10 seconds after arriving on the scene, Officer Alexander Alvarez fired the fatal shots that killed Kay.According to D.C. Metropolitan Police Chief Peter Newsham, Alvarez was chasing another suspect at the time of the shooting."When he turned around, that's when Deon Kay approached him and displayed a handgun, and in response to that, the officer fired one round," Newsham said. "Unfortunately, Deon Kay lost his life."Alavarez had been with the department for two years prior to the shooting. All officers involved in the shooting were placed on administrative leave, which is department policy.Police also said that Kay threw his gun away prior to being shot. Officers found it 90 feet away from his body."I know that he's validated gang member from the area and I know that he's had multiple touches with the criminal justice system," Newsham saod. "I'm pretty sure Deon Kay fell through multiple safety nets before yesterday afternoon."Washington, D.C. (CNS) - The Pasadena Tournament of Roses announced that in lieu of the annual parade canceled due to the coronavirus pandemic, it will host a two-hour televised entertainment special on New Year's Day to benefit Feeding America.Event coordinators issued a statement Thursday saying they have partnered with six broadcasters to air the show during the time slot traditionally reserved for live coverage of the Rose Parade. Police said a two-year old boy died after ingesting medication at his grandmother’s house in Henrico County, Virginia Friday afternoon, according to WTVR-TV.Lt. Richard Brown with Henrico Police said the two-year-old swallowed up to 12 adult-dosage pills before he was transported to VCU Medical Center where he died.Officials said his body has been transported to the medical examiner’s office to determine his exact cause of death.When reporters arrived at the home Saturday, social services workers were inside investigating.The family’s spokesperson, Ricky Johnson, said he could not provide additional information since Kejon Edwards’ death is still under investigation.“We suffered a loss and we are just asking that you pray for this family and pray for this community,” said Johnson with the Ricky Johnson and Friends Foundation. “The family is asking for privacy right now, while we try to figure this out.
