SAN DIEGO (CNS) - San Diego State's scheduled football game Friday at Fresno State was canceled Sunday due to COVID-19 contact tracing within the Bulldogs' program.The Mountain West Conference is declaring the game a no contest, and has no plans to reschedule it, conference officials said Sunday.The Aztecs (3-2), who were coming off a 26-21 loss at undefeated Nevada on Saturday, will now hold onto the Old Oil Can trophy for another year after beating Fresno State, 17-7, last season in San Diego.The Bulldogs (3-1) had their planned game Saturday against San Jose State canceled on Friday, also due to COVID-19 contact tracing within the Bulldogs program."We are disappointed about the game on Friday being canceled due to COVID issues but the health and safety of our student-athletes is most important," SDSU athletic director John David Wicker said. "We will actively search for a game this weekend because our coaches, student-athletes and staff want to play."We have reached out to the conference office and the Pac-12 that we are actively looking for a game. SAN DIEGO (CNS) -- San Diego County's recommended .4 billion budget for fiscal year 2020-21, which was released Monday, includes 0 million dedicated to testing, medical supplies, food distribution and other needs related to the COVID-19 public health crisis.Calling COVID-19 "the county's top budgetary priority," county leaders released a statement announcing the Health and Human Services Agency will see an increase of 0 million to support the county's Testing, Tracing and Treatment Strategy, personal protective equipment, and other resources and efforts in its pandemic response.Another million is earmarked for technological resources related to behavioral health services, including telehealth, electronic health record upgrades, outreach and engagement, workforce recruitment and retention.The COVID-19-related economic downturn also affected other sectors of the budget, with county officials expected to dip into reserves and slow or stop "non-essential services and projects" in order to address revenue shortfalls.The proposed spending plan is 9 million -- or 2.5% -- larger than the last fiscal year's budget.Budget increases include an additional .7 million to address homelessness in unincorporated county areas and 0,000 to develop a Flexible Housing Subsidy Pool to help homeless individuals move into permanent housing. SAN DIEGO (CNS) - San Diego Loyal SC announced today it will forfeit the point it received from its 1-1 tie with LA Galaxy II because of a racial slur directed at a Black SD Loyal player.LA Galaxy II defender Omar Ontiveros used the slur in the 71st minute of Wednesday's 1-1 tie at Dignity Health Sports Park in Carson, according to USL Championship, which suspended Ontiveros Friday for six games.Multiple officials, LA Galaxy II coaching staff and players were in the area, several of whom later acknowledged hearing the exchange, according to SD Loyal.Ontiveros was not disciplined by LA Galaxy II coaching staff or referees. Tapioca Express will pay 2,500 due to the unidentified restaurant owner's conduct toward Filipina employees between the ages of 17 and 23, according to the EEOC, which reported the harassment involved "repeated and unwanted comments of a sexual nature and physical contact," which led some employees to quit their jobs. The EEOC did not specify how many employees were harassed, but alleged that a written complaint did not lead to any changes regarding the harassment. "We commend the young women for coming forward to shine a light on the harassment to which they were subjected," said Christopher Green, director of the EEOC's San Diego office. "Their strength may give courage to other young people or those in the Asian American and Pacific Islander community who may be suffering harassment or discrimination in the workplace to come forward as well."In addition to the settlement money, Tapioca Express will hire an "external monitor" to review sexual harassment policies and procedures and establish a complaint procedure for employees.
