He encouraged both sides to explore new ways of collaboration and foster new areas of growth."Both sides should increase the contacts between business councils so as to boost the cooperation between small and medium-sized enterprises."He called for joint efforts to stand against trade and investment protectionism and provide a legal guarantee for expanded mutual investment.In response, Fischer said Austria welcomed the visit of Chinese business promotion delegation. BEIJING, March 14 (Xinhua) -- China's Ministry of Information and Technology (MIIT) issued a guideline Sunday, urging the nation's auto producers to establish quality accountability mechanism to improve quality management.The MIIT warned auto production enterprises against blind expansion, urging them to focus more on technology upgrade and improve product quality by using "new technology, new technics, new equipment and new materials."Auto producers were also asked to strengthen after-sale service, setting up an accountability mechanism to timely recall and deal with the faulty products.As China's auto industry is at a stage of rapid development, it should take effective measures to ensure product quality, so as to prompt the industry to develop in a sound and healthy way, said an official with the MIIT.Data from the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers showed that new auto sales rose 46.15 percent year on year to 13.64 million units in 2009 in China, helping the country overtake the United States as the world's largest auto market.

BEIJING, March 16 (Xinhua) -- The Chinese market has more potential for U.S. exports, especially high-tech products, as only 6.7 percent of overall U.S. exports went to China, said Ministry of Commerce (MOC) spokesman Yao Jian Tuesday.The two countries were each other's second biggest trade partners, and China was willing to strengthen economic and trade cooperation with the United States to promote more balanced Sino-U.S. trade, Yao said at a press conference in Beijing.This aim could be reached if the United States reduced restrictions on exports of high-tech commodities to China, said Yao.Just 7 percent of China's high-tech imports come from the U.S., down from 18 percent in 2003.China's imports grew faster than exports in the first two months this year. Imports grew 63.6 percent compared to a 31.4-percent growth in exports, figures from the General Administration of Customs show.Yao said the ministry would make efforts to increase imports this year by relaxing import controls, hosting trade exhibitions, and providing free exhibition space for the least-developed nations.Zero tariffs would be offered to some under-developed countries or regions to boost bilateral trade.The MOC would also continue sending Chinese procurement teams to foreign countries this year to raise imports, Yao said.
