CHULA VISTA, Calif. (KGTV) - Three people managed to crawl out of their flipped car after it crashed in Chula Vista.According to Chula Vista Police, the crash happened around 1:00 a.m. on East H Street and Otay Lakes Road.Police say the driver was speeding and lost control on a curve, hit the center divider, then started spinning before the car flipped onto its roof.The driver and the two passengers crawled out of the wreckage just as paramedics and police arrived.Two people were taken to a hospital, and the third person was treated at the scene. All of them are expected to be okay.Police believe speed was a factor in the crash. 644

CINCINNATI — Four Cincinnati Reds players knelt during the national anthem before an exhibition game against the Detroit Tigers at Great American Ball Park Tuesday night.Among the players kneeling in solidarity with the Black Lives Matter movement were Joey Votto, the Reds' star first baseman, pitcher Amir Garrett and left fielder Phillip Ervin.Garrett recently said he was reluctant at first to speak out in support of the Black Lives Matter movement, but he now says he's found his voice and calls for an end to racial injustice."I was scared to talk about these injustice issues we were having because in baseball, there's not a lot of African Americans that play the game, and I was nowhere near Kaepernick (in prominence)," Garrett said. "I felt I could be pushed out of the game. That was really scary for me."Since the death of George Floyd at the hands of police in Minneapolis earlier this year, Votto has been an outspoken supporter of the Black Lives Matter movement. Earlier this month, he was seen wearing a Black Lives Matter shirt during a workout."I think I've changed as a man. I feel my perspective has changed," Votto told the Associated Press earlier this month. "I didn't want to (speak up), but I couldn't sleep. There was a long stretch where I couldn't sleep. When it affects me that deeply, I felt strongly about saying something and learning. Every day I'm trying to learn."The demonstration by Reds players came a day after several members of the San Francisco Giants knelt for the national anthem prior to an exhibition on Tuesday. (KGTV) -- A traveling caravan was one of several events that took place around San Diego County to commemorate Juneteenth.Angie Stuart, a retired Southwestern College professor, said with the current unrest she felt it was important to show support for the African-American community, so she organized a caravan.On Friday morning, cars were decorated with posters, balloons, and streamers. People from all backgrounds came together to support one cause -- Black Lives Matter.The caravan gathered to mark this important day in history, Juneteenth -- the day in 1865 when slaves in Texas learned they were free, two and a half years after the Emancipation Proclamation.RELATED: The history behind JuneteenthKatie Ness Santana brought her three kids to the caravan. She wanted them to learn about this significant day in history and why it’s important to have equal rights for all.“We just really wanted to celebrate this important day and raise awareness so the Black community throughout San Diego know we support them. Her way of bringing attention to the changes that need to be made.“I have a son that’s 39 years old. He’s one of the big, tall, dark skinned. Since then, teachers have been cut, bus routes were eliminated, and class sizes have increased.FCMAT recommends the state controller and local district attorney be notified of its findings.Frances Martinez, the former internal auditor for the district, told Team 10 the "people who purposely did wrong should be held accountable." Martinez said she raised the red flag regarding financial issues at the district, but was not taken seriously. She said when it came to some of the district's financial accounts, "that's how the reconciled. They just made up stuff and made a balance."Martinez said she was sitting next to Superintendent Karen Janney when the multimillion-dollar deficit was discovered. "She said, hey it's the business system. It's old, huh? Just making up stuff. I've heard about six different versions of the truth and none of them have been truthful."The former Chief Financial Officer Karen Michel would not participate in the audit. The team also could not make contact with Doug Martens, the director of fiscal services.With the release of the FCMAT report, it will be up to the District Attorney, State Superintendent of Public Instruction, and State Controller to determine if fraud did in fact occur within the Sweetwater District.The district was given 15 days to respond to the audit's findings with its "proposed action."One teacher in the district, who did not want to be identified, said the audit's findings were sad, but not surprising. "Hopefully, the positive that can come out of this is that we become more transparent and have more oversight and this will never happen again," the teacher said. On Tueday, SUHSD spokesman Manny Rubio provided this statement to 10News on behalf of the district: "The Sweetwater Union High School District is currently reviewing the report from FCMAT and its findings and recommendations. The District takes this report very seriously and will be determining next steps. Given that this matter is still pending, we will refrain from any additional comment at this time."The District Attorney's office said they are reviewing the audit. There is also an investigation into the district by the Securities and Exchange Commission. An agency spokesperson would not comment. 4002
