A video appears to show a Westland Police Officer using a Taser on a man as he is holding his two-month-old baby. The incident happened on Friday night where neighbors were having a barbecue. Witnesses said police arrived because of a call about a fight. “We were just barbecuing, and we saw the cops come up,” neighbor Kelvin Williams said. “They came up and asked us who was fighting. We were like, ‘You got the wrong house.’”Williams said they didn’t understand what the officers meant. “At that point, my friend Ray got a little agitated like you’re coming over to my house, my property and you're asking me about something I don’t know about,” Williams said. According to witnesses, Ray Brown then began to argue with officers. Williams said that is when he decided to record video on his cell phone. In the video, officers told Brown was going to be arrested, then ordered Brown's son to be taken away from the scene. “That’s my child. He can be exactly where he’s at. Give me my child. Give me my child,” Brown said. Officers then crowd into Brown with a taser out. Nichole Skidmore, Brown’s girlfriend, and mother of two-month-old Christopher tried to take the baby.It appears in the video that Brown was still holding Christopher and in the process of passing him to Skidmore when officers deployed a Taser. “I had to catch the baby," Skidmore said. "I was in the street talking with the cops. I had to come over. The taser is on this side of him, and the baby is over here. As soon as they start tasing him the baby flew out of his hands and I had to grab him, or he would have fell.”Brown was arrested and placed in custody soon after that. According to a Facebook post by the Westland Police Community Partnership, Brown attempted to grab his child only after learning he would be arrested. The department says that officers chose to deploy a Taser due to the "close quarters," and that the child was also in the hands of the mother at the time the Taser was used.The Community Partnership also stated that a "thorough internal investigation" would be conducted.  2158

A vehicle was intentionally driven Friday into three students outside a high school near the southern French city of Toulouse, injuring them, the country's interior ministry said.A driver was arrested after the collision, and the Toulouse prosecutor has been called to investigate, the ministry said.The collision happened outside Saint Exupéry high school, according to CNN affiliate BFM TV.Initial information about the conditions of the injured -- identified by authorities only as Chinese students -- conflicted. The interior ministry said the students were lightly injured; BFM reported that two were in serious condition.Toulouse Prosecutor Pierre-Yves Couilleau said around noon ET that two students remained hospitalized and one had left the hospital.The vehicle accelerated as the students crossed a road, the interior ministry said.The driver has a history of mental illness, the interior ministry said in a statement. A ten-year-old girl who was the subject of an AMBER Alert Monday has been found dead near her home. Kodie B. Dutcher was reported missing Monday afternoon, and a search of her home in Baraboo, Wisconsin found evidence that the girl threatened self-harm. The AMBER Alert message said Dutcher was suspected of taking "an unknown amount of pills and may be suicidal." The girl left behind her shoes and cell phone.Community members gathered to look for her Monday night and again Tuesday morning. No word at this time who found her body. Lt. A package resembling those allegedly sent by Cesar Sayoc was recovered Thursday and was addressed to Democratic billionaire Tom Steyer, the FBI tweeted Friday. "The FBI has confirmed a package was recovered last night in California, similar in appearance to the others, addressed to Tom Steyer," the FBI said in its tweet.Steyer's organization, The Next Generation, was "notified late last night" by USPS security, who said they had called the FBI and confirmed it was a suspicious package, according to Aleigha Cavalaier, NextGen's communications director."They also told us that they suspected (it) was from the same guy, but it was mailed to a different address," Cavalaier said.CNN previously reported on a mail bomb allegedly sent by Sayoc to Steyer last week.Steyer thanked law enforcement and the U.S. Postal Service for their support in a statement Friday, stressing that his organization would not be intimidated by the packages. 946

A massive scam related to COVID-19 that targeted millions of Office 365 users in 62 countries was stopped by Microsoft's digital crimes unit.The department is almost like a police department. There's even an evidence room. It's an office that is only known to the people whose job it is to investigate attacks on Microsoft customers. They're a small group, but they're mighty.Tom Burt, the Corporate Vice President for Customer Security and Trust, said the team is comprised of "lawyers, forensic investigators data analysts, business people."Burt is in charge of the cybersecurity team that goes after cybercriminals. Their job is to find, intercept and then help law enforcement stop the scam artists in their tracks."(We're) looking for things that we shouldn't be seeing in the data relevant to how Office 365 was being used by our costumers," Burt said. "When we see that we can dive deeper, look at the metadata and look at the information that's streaming through our Office 365 global network — to try to find indicators of people doing bad things."The team often uses social media to alert people to the hacks they're seeing.Cybercriminals often target people's fears and anxiety. So, these days, the coronavirus pandemic is a good hook.One of the recent lures was a "cure for coronavirus" or "COVID-19 safety tips" from the Red Cross. The hackers were hoping Officer 365 users would take the bait and click."They're able to get control of users' Office 365 accounts," Burt said. "They can then see what's going on in that account. They can act as if they're you — they can send email in your name and look to find things in your email account like passwords and other information."Burt says the hackers are good. They do research and figure out how companies are structured and who does what. They'll look at social sites and figure out exactly who to target.Some of the scams people were getting involved co-workers asking others to transfer money to an account."They're sophisticated criminals," Burt said. 'They do this work to make sure the requests look legitimate so they can be successful in stealing money."Burt says there's an easy way to prevent phishing attacks."The number one thing by far is to utilize two factor authentication on all of your accounts," he said. "If you're a business,s make sure you're doing that for your business email if you're an individual, make sure you're doing it for your individual email and financial accounts."Burt is referencing the separate codes a user gets when logging on to a website. The site will give a prompt so they can prove that they are.The cybersecurity team says two-fact authentication will eliminate 98-99 percent of attacks.The challenge has always been to find the cybercriminals. So, this time around, the digital unit went around them."We're saying, let's stop them in a different way," Burt said. "Let's take the internet tools that they're using to conduct their crime, and let's go legally take those tools away from them."Court documents from the civil case filed in Federal Court say that Microsoft has the authority to take away the tools the hackers need to conduct their scams."Basically, websites, locations on the internet from which they can conduct their fraudulent activities — whether it's launching their efforts or the place where they want you to ultimately go — we go with the court order to those registrars and transfer those domains to Microsoft control," Burt said.Doing that strips hackers' access and gives Microsoft the ability to block them."We took down the criminal infrastructure that was being used to defraud people in 62 countries," Burt said. "We're going to keep doing that work. We're committed. Its fun, it's fascinating and, most importantly, it protects our customers." 3791
